We meet the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month from September through June�at The Hilton Garden Inn. How the Kennett Square Lions Serve your community: Kennett Square Lions raised and gave away $24,993 in the 2006-2007 year. The biggest fund raiser supporting this effort is the fall Golf Classic that has raised more than $25,000 over its four years to support the club�s sight-related and local charities. This $24,993 does not include the more than $26,000 that the Kennett Suare Lions raised though the Casino dell�Arte evening on April 14th, to support the work of Camp Dreamcatcher. Based in Kennett Square, Camp Dreamcatcher works with children and families infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. The club also fulfilled its $6,000 commitment to Campaign Sight First II, an international Lions effort to continue and expand the worldwide program to combat preventable blindness. Other donations included Eye Care for Local Students, $6,000 Bayard Taylor Library, $100 Beacon Lodge, $1,000 Beacon Lodge, Jerry Burress, $450 Bing Miller Trust, $300 Bournelyf Special Camp, $1,000 Canine Partners for Life, $2,500 CHESCO Center on Hearing and Deafness, $250 Delaware Valley Eye Bank, $1,500 Good Neighbors, $150 Handi-Crafters, Inc, $100 KAU Little League team sponsorship, $410 Kennett Fire Company, $300 Kennett Police Drug Hotline, $100 Kennett Senior Center, $1,000 Leader Dog District 14-P, $600 Longwood Fire Company, $300 Po-Mar-Lin Fire Company, $300 Royer Greaves School for the Blind, $500 Scholarships, $2,000 Tick Tock Day Care, $100 Aided in the establishment of an Avon Grove Lions Club We have provided strong leadership beyond our local club, through Monroe Nute (One of our own Kennett Lions who rose to be the Lions International President), and a number of District Governors, including Donn Barber, Monroe Nute, and Carol Berzon, as well as current Vice District Governor Lionn Richard Taylor. |
