PURPOSE AND CHARACTER OF YAM 2003 WORKCAMP
The threefold
PURPOSE is:
- To provide an experience that enables participants to be living links within a regional and worldwide fellowship while remaining rooted
in a local context.
- To provide exposure to mission issues which will lead each participant to a deeper and more creative involvement in his or her own local congregation, community and national church.
- To provide an opportunity for Christian young people to awaken their interest in the mission of Christ, and to be exposed to ways of bearing witness that are biblically valid, culturally relevant, creative and practical.
The threefold
CHARACTER will involve:
- Group activities which are geared at providing a process whereby participants are enabled to learn more about themselves and accept, learn and work with people of other cultures and backgrounds. Moreover an exploration of the socio-political context of Curacao, the host country and the region will help participants to identify missions issues in this context.
- Bible Studies, worship and reflections based on and related to the workcamp theme
, DIVI-DIVI: GOING WHERE GOD LEADS", the work projects with the communities in Curacao and insights arising from these.
- Involvement in on-going projects of the United Protestant Church in Curacao
which will require that participants be engaged in physical work and interaction with the community
.
WHO SHOULD BE SELECTED TO ATTEND YAM 2003 WORKCAMP?
Christian Young adults between the ages of 18 – 30 who are
Young Adults who are involved in the life of the church
Persons who have an interest in ministry and mission of the church
Persons who are open to relate with others from various cultural, ethnic background
Persons who will commit themselves to work in the church and/or community after their return from the workcamp.
