This is my growing list of accepted pieces. (Hopefully it continues to grow.) I shall also mention the awards I've won.

A bit of free verse published in March 2005 in Barcid Homily..

"No Tears for Death" -- Short Story
This sad science fiction story was published in February 2005 in Bewildering Stories..

"Why Worry?" -- short story
Appearing in the fifth anniversary issue of Excess Compassion, this story is about a man who always frets over things over which he has no control.

"The Beauty Parlor" -- short story
This story, written after an idea given to my by my girlfriend, appeared in the June 2004 issue of Cyberpulp Magazine.

"Loss Alone" -- poem
As a nice girl said, "It was a beautiful poem, Ken." It was published in May 2004 in Fuse Magazine.

"Defend to the Death" -- creative nonfiction
Have you ever noticed that the liberal academic majority loves free speech unless they disagree? I recounted a couple of my stories from SUNY Poor Choice and Oswego.

"Ode to the Super Senior" -- poem
This poem grew out of my lament that I am a Super Senior, meaning that I required more than 8 semesters for an undergrad degree.

"Narrow Hips" --- Short Story
This story won the monthly short short contest for the College Crier in February 2004. It is available for free as long as supplies last.
"Narrow Hips" is a story I wrote in 1999 for a class at Purchase. We were told to write a story about betrayal, so I crafted a brief narrative about a young man who breaks his promise to the woman he loves.

"Making It Up As They Go Along" --- Journalism
This is a 1200-word piece of nonfiction about the Shaun Cassidy Fan Club Improv Comedy Troupe. It is on the inside cover of the February 2004 College Crier.

"Open Mike Warriors" --- Creative Nonfiction
Becoming a standup comic is an interesting initiation to a world few people know. This story appeared in November in Shecky Magazine.

"Peek Into Heaven" --- Poem
This poem was accepted in January 2004, and is scheduled to appear in the August 2004 issue of Feelings of the Heart.

"I Don't Remember At All" --- Poem
This poem appeared in the Spring 2003 issue of the Great Lake Review.

Satire --- Humor
Articles, some from the Hangover Press and some commissioned specially to be published in a great new journal to be edited by Rocco Virgolini. Look for that later in 2004.

Several Hangover pieces appeared in the 'Oswegonad', the humorous April Fool's Day edition of the Oswegonian.

Awards
"No Crying For Death" --- Short Story
I was pleased to win honorable mention for the 2003 Mathom Fiction Award for this science fiction story.

"Indefinable" --- Brief Play
My second win for New Voices. This ten-page play will see a staged reading at the end of March.

"How to Handle a Woman" --- Brief Play
This comedic short was a winner for the 2003 New Voices competition. It also finished out the night during the readings. I was pleased to have a tremendous cast for this reading, including Tom McComb and Ms. Meaghan Thaney.

"Montserrat" --- Play
I was honored in 1999 to reach the finals of the national Young Playwrights Competition. This play is one of my favorites, despite its age.

Go back home.
