Example Speaking Test Description

Speaking Test

You will each speak individually with me for about six minutes. First, I will ask you about a book you have read for this class. Here are some example questions:

What's the book about?
What happens in the end? / How does it end?
How did you feel when you finished the book?
Who was your favorite character? Why?
What was the most interesting thing about this book?
What did you learn from this book?
What did you think about when you read the book?
What did you think of the book? / How did you like it?
If you could change anything about this book, what would it be?
Do you recommend it? Why/Why not?

Answer my questions and add anything else you would like to share about the book or your response to it.

If time allows, we will then continue talking about another topic. Choose a topic you would like to talk about. Be ready to tell me about your thoughts, hopes, plans, or opinions regarding the topic, and be ready to ask me some questions, too.

During the test, I will be checking how well you understand and respond to what I say, and how clearly you communicate your ideas.
