*February 2001 Journal Entries* February 25, 2001 - I just created this area of my website to hopefully keep my family and friends up-to-date on what's going on in my life. Well, right now, my big plans are for March 23. I will be flying to St. Louis for a week (til April 1, actually) to see my Lori Ann and Joey, Jessica, and all the fam. I'm very excited! February 26, 2001 - Things are going really well at work. We have everything in order to rehabilitate our filters. The underdrains have arrived, and the sand and anthracite (filter media) is on order and should be in within 3 weeks. I'm also about to undertake a vast plant cleanup. I tried to buy some cleaning supplies at Lowes Friday, but my Purchase Order # was not recognized by their system. DOH! Everything will work out though, and by early spring, the Mt. Pleasant Water Treatment Plant is going to be a place we're all proud of! :) February 27, 2001 - Howdy! I have to say that today I can easily imagine myself at Doughton Park just off the picturesque Blue Ridge Parkway. I can see myself walking up that hill from the Bluff's Lodge and seeing a few deer, breathing that fresh mountain air...AHHHHHH!....doh! *reality check*....I'm at work :( February 28, 2001 - Yo! I had a nightmare last night. I was on Highway 73 driving toward Mt. Pleasant to work and I had a white van in front of me. A BIG tractor trailer truck was behind me. All of a sudden a pickup truck with a trailer pulled out in front of the van (from the road that leads to the Mountainbrook golf course) and the van SLAMMED into the trailer. I slammed on my brakes and jerked the wheel to the right and slid. The big rig locked up his brakes but slid and BOOM!! slammed into me pushing the left front side of my car into the van, crushing my little CRX from back to front with me inside. WOW! When the fatal crushing of my car enveloped me, I woke up with a start, breathing heavy, as you might imagine. It was only 9:45pm, as I had gone to bed early last night. I called Lori Ann at work, and her soothing voice reassured me that everything was alright. You know, I've been driving too fast lately. Taking too many chances. I truly believe God gave me that dream to make me aware of just how dangerous driving really is. I was more cautious this morning, and I plan to be as safe as I can. PHEW! That dream was so realistic, it scared the crap out of me.
I was eager to watch the NASCAR race today, but they only got 51 laps in before rain hit. Oh well, they're going to run it tomorrow (CLEAR weather forecast...YAY!!!) and that's good, because Lori is at work today, but tomorrow she'll be able to watch too. GOOOOO Jeff Burton! He's currently 7th.
I'll do my best to keep up this page, so check back often to keep up with ol' Ken. :)
The weather today is UNBELIEVABLE. Not a cloud in the sky and the sky is a deep Carolina Blue! A good day for a race ;-) It comes on at 11am on FX. I can't wait!
Remember to check out Lori Ann's page, she's been working on it a lot! JB99Fan's Jeff Burton Fanpage
Stay tuned for updates on The World-O-Kenneth!
Seriously though, if anyone reads this and think that sounds good too, shoot me an email [email protected] and let's plan up a little get-away! We could even have a picnic at the picnic area of Doughton Park. MMMMMM...I LOOOOOOOOOVE my Parkway!
Crappy, crappy day for Jeff Burton yesterday. Burton got into the wall and knocked the "toe" out of line. After time-consuming repairs, Burton limped home 37th...falling to 33rd in the points. Jeff says, "I lost the back end...and I just ran out of room." He went on to say, "It has been a bad week, but I made it worse for us than it needed to be. I just screwed up." Oh well, he'll get 'em at Vegas next weekend! Burton has won two in a row at Vegas, and here's hoping he makes it THREE!
Come back tomorrow, and I'll outlay my plans for what I'm going to do to my yard! Exciting stuff! :) Bye for now!
Another thing God gave me yesterday...and it was truly a gift...I had the best feeling to come over me. I was standing out in the sun and I closed my eyes and felt the warmth on my face, and I truly, for the first time in a long long time, felt alive. God was speaking to me. "You are young. You are healthy. Life is short. Go out and do what you can do while you can do it." I have to say, life goes by so fast. Do you remember when you graduated from high school? Well, I do, and it seems like last year. In June, it will be my 12th year since graduation. I guess I use high school graduation for my benchmark of how fast life is going. When I am someday blessed with children, I know watching them grow up will certainly be a new benchmark. :)
I will lay out my dramatic plans for my home and yard next time...I had bigger fish to fry today. :) Take 'em easy!
