I hear a snuffle just nearby, my Ridgeback at my feet.
He`s never very far away, no matter where I go
And when I come in tired at night I see that face I know.
Those eyes so clear, so trusting, so sparkling and so true
They speak the words he`d love to say ``Mum, I do love you!``
I remember those eyes not long ago, so sad, so dull , full of pain
``Does no one love me any more, will I always be out in the rain?``
He was so bad when he was a lad, no one wanted to know him
He wrecked, he tore, he pulled things down, he was beaten just to show him
Now he is my pride and joy, he fills my heart so full
He`s a great big cuddly beautiful boy, my days are never dull
Here we sit at the close of day, his head upon my knee, we have so much to be thankful for
