Sea of Clouds: Phenomenon where the clouds roll in over the valleys.  When viewed from the top of the mountain peaks, the cloud cover resembles a white sea.  (See related topic: The Sea of Smog, native to Chia-yi.   This is where the smog rolls in, and you pretty much can't see anything)

Taiwan Rock Monkey: A monkey from the Rhesus family found in the mountains of Taiwan.  I have twice seen these monkeys in the wild, once in Taroko Gorge, and once along the South Cross Island Highway.  My wife has never seen one, though, as she was asleep on both occasions.

Tomb Sweeping:   A Chinese tradition where the relatives clean the tombs of their ancestors once a year.   After cleaning the grave, the relatives then have a little party where they offer wine, flowers, food, cigarettes, and betel nuts to their dearly departed.
