![]() | The kazoo is played by humming into the opening. The one is the foreground is a gold-plated metal kazoo (the metal ones preferred by many players over similarly-shaped plastic kazoos). The middle one is made of wood. The large kazoo with the bell was made by Mattel, and was "stolen" (with permission) from my cousin's daughter about 30 years ago (another antique) (the kazoo, not the daughter). One can also play a kazoo-like comb, by placing a piece of gift tissue paper, or a dollar bill against one side of the comb, and humming on the other side. In my college band, The New Dignity for Mankind Jug Band, our comb-player, Greg, used a $100 bill on his comb (pure class). He also played a Martin guitar, which fits. |
