March '06 Update:

Life sure is fun these days. Jason is now walking and climbing stairs. Still working on the going down part.. but he sure is crusin.. Jason has takin to playing with the TV buttons so we have Doreen's Quilt ruler taped to the front over them. Jason likes to play and clap along with his favorite show 'Wheel of Fortune'..

Ethan is enroling in pre-school for the fall and we are trying the potty training again. He seems to have some interest so we are hopefull. He loves to log into the computer and play..

Doreen and I pass the time with picking up toys and playing with our boys. We like to go to the zoo together whenever we have a free day off.

I still play and sing on the church worship team and we are close to starting our new building project. It will be nice to get back into our own facility again when that happens.

We love to hear from people so drop us a line sometime. :)

	February/March Update: Well, much has happened in the last few months. Jason has arrived and we have been consistently sleeping for a few weeks now. We call him "The Tank" because he is bottomless. He started on cereal before his 4 month check up but still doesn't understand what to do with this weird goo in his mouth. Ethan is as adorable as ever and speaking in complete sentences that we can usually understand. We are eagerly anticipating starting gymnastics again and perhaps swimming lessons. Ken is still with Westcon and 2005 has arrived with two business trips already. He usually takes two per year, so 2005 may prove interesting. Doreen has started attending a new MOPS group at church and even was volunteered as Craft coordinator. This has been a wonderful experience so far and truly� a blessing Our church building has sold and we will be vacating before Easter. A local middle school will be our new home as we await building permits and construction on our new property. We are excited to be pushed out of our comfort zone for a change. Our Blessings to you... Ken, Doreen, Ethan , Jason and Dexter... - - - - * - - - October Update: IT'S A BOY!!!! Jason Matthew Johansen was born on Wednesday 10/20 @ 2:10PM. He weighed 8lbs 15ozs and was 21 1/2 inches long. Mom and Baby are doing great and we are all just trying our best to get some sleep between Ethan just turning 2 this last Sept 5th and the new addition. But we are all doing fine and life is great! We truely thank God for his tremendous blessing. Feel free to drop us a line anytime. Our Blessings to you... Ken, Doreen, Ethan , Jason and Dexter... - - - - - - - - - - - February/March Update: Ken and I just realized that we have been in our new home for one year now. Where does the time go! So far we have only made time for decorating two bathrooms and can fit one car in the garage. Hopefully, we can get more done in the coming months with our new deadline looming overhead. We discovered that we are pregnant again....due Oct 22. Ethan is taking the news of being a big brother with very little regard. His little world will be rocked when he has to share mom and dad, he just can't grasp that yet. He is still as cute as ever and jabbering a mile a minute. He even takes time out to try to actually learn how to say something. He is still into everything and is very busy. Dexter is mellowing slightly. We can't wait for him to mellow completely! We are starting a daily devotional called The 40 Days of Purpose by Rick Warren this week. It includes weekly meetings at our house, we can't wait!! Ken continues to ski when he can and plays drums on Saturday at church now. I am forever trying to find a little bit of extra time to quilt. Our quilt group is meeting more often and that has been fun, too. Well our to-do-list is getting longer as I type. Remember we love you all, Ken, Doreen, Ethan and Dexter - - - - - - - - - - - August/September Update: Wow are we behind in our updates. Ethan has conquered crawling and is practicing walking along the furniture. He is in to everything. He also is working on his 7th and 8th teeth and is no longer on baby food. Dexter is mellowing slightly, unless you come to the door and try to test that theory. Maybe some day he will learn better manners. Ken is working harder than ever at Comstor and relieved that he can work from home some of the time. He also continues as a drummer and vocalist at Newsong. I have started helping out in the church nursery and have taken over the PRISM weight loss program again. Of course, my hours of quilting have also been very enjoyable. The decorating of our new house continues at a slow pace and my list for Ken keeps getting longer and longer. We are planning on getting away to southern Colorado to visit Ken's Dad over Labor Day weekend and are also planning a two week trip to Hawaii to celebrate Ethan's 1st birthday and Ken's 40th. So at least Ken knows some relief is in sight. Call, visit or email anytime, Ken, Doreen, Ethan and Dexter - - - - * - - - - April/May Update: Well we have had more rain and snow in the last few weeks than we have seen in a long time. Praise God for the moisture. We were planning on skipping a garden this year but now we may plant more zucchini.... Ken quakes with fear, and trembles when I talk about zucchini. Our first holiday celebration in our new house was a huge party on Easter and it was a blast. There were 36 people at our house and luckily it was a gorgeous day to be on the patio. The kids enjoyed an Easter egg hunt and we all ate tons of great food. For our first bash I think it went great!!! We are still settling into our new space and trying to figure out our decorating style for all these rooms. We are making progress, although at a much slower pace. Ethan is, of course, phenomenol. He has cut a top tooth and his fourth tooth seems to be close behind. With his new choppers he is getting better at chewing which opens up a whole new world of food options. He is also much more adept at slithering across the floor, he's better at crawling and he can swing like crazy(self-propelled). We constantly field compliments about how good he is and how much he laughs and giggles. He is a total flirt but prefers to charm the women around him. Hope we can see everyone soon. Love, Ken, Doreen, Ethan and Dexter - - - - - - - - - - - Valentine Update from the Lovebirds: It's now February and we are wondering where the time has gone. As you can see Ethan is growing like a weed and is a very happy baby. He is rolling all over and yearning to crawl. He loves cereal but is not crazy about his veggies. We have discovered that Dexter will lick up anything (if we let him) We have finally sold our house and have found a replacement not too far away, here in Longmont. Everything will be official in two weeks and we are praying that everything goes through without a hitch. Our move begins on Feb 21st. Our new house has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms so please come for a visit to Colorado, our door is open!!! I (Doreen) am still recovering from a sprained finger from November and I am now in hand therapy. I had never even heard of hand therapy before. Ken is still busy with work, although, he has been working from home two days a week (or so).He is also leading worship at church. His schedule is very full but he still finds time to help me with the house, Dexter and Ethan. As we reminisce about our Valentine's celebration two years ago when Ken proposed (Feb 12th), our lives have gotten richer and full of even more love, we hardly thought that was possible. We hope that everyone finds or re-ignites their love this year. Our love goes out to you, Ken, Doreen, Ethan and Dexter - - - - - - - - - * - - - - - - - - - - Fall News! - 10/17/02 Isn't life grand!... Doreen and I are doing a little experiment. How long can the human body actually go without sleep? Ethan is home and doing great. He is a healthy, strapping young lad. His favorite hobbies are, now, let me think here..... Eating, sleeping and leaving mommy and daddy little presents every day!... We all are doing great. Have had a lot of visitors, tons of help (thanks everyone!) and we just take what life and the good Lord gives us everyday. Don't be shy if you'd like to drop in or give us a call. Summer News! - 9/5/02 IT'S A BOY !!!!!!!!!! 9 Months almost to the day, our new addition is here. Mom and son are doing fine. Check out the latest pictures.... - - - - * - - - - - Summer News! - July 02 It's been quite a summer so far. Doreen and I are just 6 weeks from the birth of our 1st baby. We have been in child-birth classes and the anticipation is building. With both fear, trembling & extreme excitement the day is getting closer. And, as Doreen reminds me of often, it is the hottest summer on record! We spend our days preparing, seeking shade and visiting all of our friends with A/C. Doreen has finished school and graduated (we are all so proud of her). We are on our 2nd new car after Doreen was broadsided by a towtruck in the middle of the day. Both her and baby are doing fine. This all happening while I was on a business trip to England for 2 1/2 weeks. Now it's a couple of days of rest in the mountains and then press on to babytime. Our dog Dexter is as happy as ever. He also known as the 'chewin machine' after taking a liking to our shrubs and eating an entire apple tree (but we still love em....I think...) Overall, all is well and we will keep everyone updated as to the baby and life in Colorado. We love you all. God's blessings to you in all His fullness.... Ken, Doreen, (baby..don't know if it is a boy or girl yet) & Dexter... - - - - - - - - - * - - - - - - - - - - What a summer it is turning out to be. Doreen is doing fine and our baby is growing. We have a Sept 7th due date and we are getting excited! We are taking a new parenting class at church and just counting the days. Doreen is trying very hard to finish school and her degree before the baby comes so it's classes classes classes... We are also selling our condo this month (april) and hopefully our house soon as well. We have our eyes out for a little bigger place in a nice quiet neighborhood in Longmont. I have been in a new(er) role at work and doing well. I have been very busy working on our house and yard, leading worship at church and even started to learn to play the guitar. We are talking about a little vacation this summer, possibly to Yellowstone. Other than having to say goodbye to our wonderful kitty "Sam", things are well and life is in its fullness for us. It was right after we got our puppy that we found out (new years eve). The standing joke is "must of been the puppy chow". We are so very happy and have a projected date of around Sept (now Sept 7th!). We have been very busy with Church and school classes but loving life. We love you all and hope to hear from you soon. Ken, Doreen, {baby}, Dexter & Sam... - - - - - - - - - * - - - - - - - - - - Reall Old news (now..): Thank you for everyone who came out for the wedding in Colorado. It was an awesome time. We love you all! Now on to some K & D news... Well it's been quite the last few months with all the wedding planning, a 5 day trip to the Cayman Islands and a 2 week honeymoon to the Colorado & Canadian Rockies! We are getting settled in our new home and Doreen starts school again the end of August. We plan on finishing out the summer with working on the house, some landscaping & school. Doreen planted a tremendous garden and it's producing lots of zuchinni's, tomatoes & peppers. She's been busy baking lots of zuchinni bread (yumm..) this year too.
