Slam Dunk: The Story...
A summary of the whole story (Manga Version)
(It's a long... story. Plus some of my comments and jokes.)
Long long ago, in the state of Kanagawa...Okay, so it's not that long, juz kidding, I'll start again.
Ahem, the story goes like this...
This guy, Hanamichi Sakuragi, entered the Shohoku High School in Kanagawa.(Why is the main character Sakuragi? Don't ask me, I wish it's Rukawa or Sendoh. Okay, back to the story.) So this Sakuragi guy was dumped by 50 gals in his previous school. (Poor thing ,huh? )When he went to Shohoku High, He met Haruko Akagi, and Fell Head Over Heels In LOVE with her.( Or should I say INFATUATED?) Ok, so in order to please her, he stayed back after school to practice SLAM DUNK with her. Haruko taught him how to dunk the ball in the hoop. Instead of succeeding. he knocked into the hoop. (I bet he didn't even know what's basketball before that.)Even though he did not succeed, Haruko was convinced that he would be a great help to the basketball team if he joined. . Later, Sakuragi found out that Haruko liked this guy, Kaede Rukawa (I like the Chinese Version of his name, Liu2 Chuan1 Feng1).Sakuragi was HEART-BROKEN when he found out about it. Few days later, a group of gangsters from their school couldn't stand Sakuragi & co's arrogance, asked them to go to the roof-top of their school to fight it out. When Sakuragi & co went there, they saw the gangsters lying flat on their face(The fellas had fainted.) , and this cool-looking guy standing (he is the only one standing) in front of them. (DRUMROLL-----Ta Dang!) The guy was Rukawa, he was the guy Haruko likes. (Tension builds up!!!)Haruko saw Sakuragi talking/arguing (Take your pick) to Rukawa. She gets worried that he might tell Rukawa that she likes him.(What an UNNECESSARY WORRY!) She rushes to the roof-top and saw Rukawa bleeding (from the fight with the gangsters) and assumes that sakuragi got into a fight with him. (How can anyone fall for such a person?) K, so she screams at Sakuragi that she will not speak to him again (or something else. whatever it all has the same effect.) Well poor Sakuragi, if his heart wasn't TOTALLY broken before that, it is now. He sure didn't take it easy.The poor guy even tried to jump off the building.
Later Haruko found out that she had misunderstood Sakuragi. (Hey sakuragi, how can you fall for this kinda gal?) She wanted to apologise to Sakuragi, but only after school. (I feel like asking that question again, but since I bet no one's gonna answer it, I shan't ask. Sakuragi has a BAD taste.)Before she can apologize, Sakuragi got into a fight with the captain of the Basketball team!!! They arranged an 1-on-1 in the school gym. Haruko found out about it, and turns out that the captain of the basketball team is her brother, TAKENORI AKAGI !!! Poor Sakuragi who know practically nothing about basketball, couldn't even touch the ball. When Sakuragi pulled down Akagi's pants, Akagi was so angry, he swore that he was DEFINITELY going to kill him. Sakuragi saw Haruko in the crowds and thought she was there to encourage him. (Lovesick fellow) In the end, Sakuragi won. When he found out that "the gorilla" was actually Haruko's brother, he begged to join the basketball team. After some wheedling and begging, he joined the SHOHOKU BASKETBALL TEAM!
After joining the team, ayako, the basketball team manager, taught him all the basics of basketball. He improved tremendously only after a month of learning. (Man, i 'm so envious. ^-') Just after he mastered most of the basics, Shohoku was to have a match against Ryonan, the top 3 Best Basketball team in Kanagawa for High School. Because Akagi was injured during the match, Sakuragi was sent up to replace him. He was to guard Jun Uozumi, the 2m "Giant Gorrila" Captain of Ryonan. (Sounds cool? Not exactly.) Sakuragi was so nervous, he couldn't focus. After some butt-kicking from rukawa, he amazed everyone by his quick actions. Akagi came back later, Sakuragi was made to guard AKIRA SENDOH, the star player of Ryonan. Because of his lack of experience, Sakuragi did not manage to guard him well. Rukawa was then sent to guard him WITH Sakuragi. However, Shohoku lost, a score of 87 to 86.
Later, Hisashi Mitsui, a gangster who actually was part of the Basketball team, rejoined the team.
After that, Shohoku went on to competing in the Inter-High competition. Sakuragi improved rapidly at the same time. He also overcomed many problems he had. Shohoku won the B-team champion over the SHOYO players. After competing with othe teams such as Kainan (88 - 90) and Ryonan (70 - 66), Shohoku won one of the entries to the National Competition. However they lost in their third match after defeating the Champion for the previous years, SANNOH! Sakuragi hurt his back during the competition against Sannoh. After the match he had to rest for a while. (Welll... the story stops here. Whether it's temporary or permanetly. But I heard that the second series is coming out...)
