REPAIR BAY:
Your resource center for answers to
common MW4 and Mech Pack bugs
and errors.
Below in a bulleted list are typical problems, and their solutions.
I have the Clan and/or Inner Sphere Mech packs installed, but when I open MW4, it doesn't recognize that I have done so.
Solution: Install the SafeCast repair utility for each mech pack that you have.  Follow the links below to download the utilities you need.

When I go onto the internet to play, many or all of the servers I see are listed as being a more recent version than mine.
Solution: Most likely, this is because the servers in question have the "Mechtek" unofficial expansion installed, or they have Point Release 1 installed.  If they have Mechtek installed, you're better off not playing--it ruins the balance of the game.  If you haven't installed Point Release 1, on the other hand, definitely do so.  This will bring you up to date with most online players.  You can use the "Filter" option, below the list of servers, to prevent the program from showing you any more servers that are using an older or newer version of the game.  Follow the link below to get Point Release 1.

My friends and I are trying to use the same internet connection to play online (through a router), but only one of us is able to connect.
Solution: You need the program "DXport".  The reason your friends can't connect is because the ports that need to be open for them to play are not.  Check your router or a Microsoft resource to find out which ports and how many ports need to be opened for each person.  Then use DXport to open them.  Follow the link below to download DXport.

When I am playing the game, sometimes my mech will not go at its top speed, or it will suddenly go to reverse throttle.
Solution: The problem is that the throttle on your joystick is not correctly positioned.  If you use a button other than the throttle slide to control your speed, not having the slide all the way forward can interfere with your speed and direction.  Simply push the slide to the 100% forward position.  Don't worry, it won't conflict with your alternate throttle device.
Although they worked before, now some or all of my controls will not respond.
Solution: Most likely you have messed around with the control settings too much.  Reset them to default, change the keys they have to the keys they prefer--but ONLY the ones that you need to.  Don't try to make the others blank, just leave what is there, there.
When I play the game, my mech's view is constantly drifting to a certain direction.
Solution: Try two things...first, try toggling off the "auto center torso to legs", which by default is bound to the semicolon key.  If that doesn't work, try calibrating your joystick.  To do this, under Control Panel, double click on Game Controllers, select your joystick from the list, and then click on the "Advanced" tab.  It should then walk you through the calibration process.  A dead giveaway that this is the problem will be an off-center "plus" in the calibration window.
Although I have installed Point Release 1, it does not recognize that I have done so when I play.
Solution: This may be due to a corrupt installation file.  Use the link above to download Point Release 1 again, making sure to save the file to your computer rather than run it from the site.
