A Kenilworth Freedom Run and Walk, hosted by the Kenilworth Historical Society, will be held on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009 (rain or shine).  The 5K Freedom Run and 2K Freedom Walk will each start at 10 a.m. from the North 22nd/21st Street municipal parking lot behind the Kenilworth Seniors� Center.  The events are being held in conjunction with the national �America Supports You� program, which recognizes residents� support for U.S. military men and women and communicates such support to members of the Armed Forces at home and abroad.
     The fee to take part in the noncompetitive 2K Freedom Walk is $8 in advance (by Sept. 18) and $10 after Sept. 18.  Children, youths and adults of all ages are invited to participate individually or as part of a group/organization.  All participants must register in order to receive a commemorative T-shirt.
The registration fees for the 5K Run, a USATF (U.S.A. Track & Field)-sanctioned event, are as follows:  Advance registration (by Sept. 18): $20; after Sept. 18, $23; Registration for USATF members (by Sept. 18): $18; after Sept. 18,  $23.
        Advance registration for the Freedom Walk and the Freedom Run is strongly recommended to ensure T-shirt availability.
Optional monetary donations to purchase items needed by U.S. troops may be made at the time of registration, in care of the Kenilworth Historical Society.
       Awards for the 5K Freedom Run will be given to the top male and female finisher in the overall race and to the top three male and female finishers in each of the designated 10-year age groups (14 and under to 75 and over).  Same-day race scoring and recording will be handled by CompuScore Computer Services.

Checks for registration should be made payable to the Kenilworth Historical Society and sent, together with a completed registration form, to the Kenilworth Historical Society, 567 Boulevard, Kenilworth, N.J. 07033.  In-person registration can be done in advance at the Borough Clerk�s Office or on Sept. 27 at the Kenilworth Seniors� Center, starting at 8:30 a.m. that day.
Proceeds from the event, after expenses are paid, will benefit the Kenilworth Historical Society�s ongoing project to restore the local 19th-century Oswald J. Nitschke House and transform it into a �living history� museum and cultural arts center.
