Express Thyself! Say something loudly! -An examination of the frustration of communication in Nick Cave's And the Ass Saw the Angel

It deals mainly with the bottled up frustrations of Euchrid Eucrow, and my claim is that both his and the other characters of the novel's lack of ability to communicate inevitably result in acts of violence. I also trace the themes of the novel through some of Nick Cave's early Eighties lyrics, such as "Swampland", "King Ink" and "Tupelo". Also available is a short essay I wrote before I wrote the thesis in order to organize my thoughts about the task that lay ahead entitled "Why write a thesis on ATASTA?
