It’s a Bird, it’s a Plane!

Many of us grew up reading comic books about our Super Heroes. We often sacrificed our lunch or milk money to purchase a copy of our favorite character’s latest adventure. Spider Man and the Green Lantern were the rage. The Flash with his amazing speed was just incredible. There were others but my favorite often wore a tight blue suit and sported a flowing red cape. Now I’m not talking about Superman. I’m talking about the other guy. My hero put the phone booth on the map! My very special and honored guest today could have easily been Lois Lane’s co-worker. I'm not talking about Jimmy Olson or Mr. White. My friend doesn't work for the Daily Planet but I can assure you that he has been making tracks on this planet daily since he was born! I’m talking about our new Super Hero. CLBC’s own, “Carp Kent”!

Kent Adams is no stranger to fishing or to the ALVA D. His first love is fishing for trout in the mountains of north Georgia. Today’s voyage could change his heart forever. Kent has used corn for trout but things will change quickly once he experiences this new cornucopia of fun. After being “pulled down” by one of these beautiful Golden Cornivores of Dog River, he may be hooked for life!

Did “Carp Kent” use x-ray vision to his advantage today? Did he fly down Dog River faster than a speeding bullet? Would he use his Super Human strength to wrestle in a gruesome Golden Ghost? Or did he unearth his only mortal enemy by hanging into a rock of that dreaded, deadly, life sapping…. Carptonite? I though you’d never ask…….

Our Story

Kent and I met around 7:30 am. We were on the Dog within an hour. It was a cool, clear, crisp fall morning. Some leaves turning, some falling. We heard busy squirrels above us chattering and making last minute preparations for the time when there would be no food to gather. Everything around us, including the Carpin’, pointed to the change of seasons and the ultimate winter to come. Is the best of our season behind us? Let me remind you that last years' Carp of the year was boated on Nov 2, 2002 by our own Lon “Butterbean” Wynn. There is still time! Don’t give up!

The bottom line today was one small catfish for me and a 2lb, 2 oz Golden Ghost for Kent. I guess Super Heroes even have off days! We still had a great time. It was so pretty out there this morning!

I am attaching a picture of Kent’s best. I am also including a picture of the Ol’ Captain at the height of today’s excitement. So............
