I hadn't planned
on fishing this morning. I had to be at a wedding in Warner-Robbins, GA by 3:30 PM. After
careful consideration it occurred to me that I might have a window of about three hours
before I had to get ready to leave. I reasoned that a morning of Carp fishing might be
just the ticket to prepare my heart and soul for an afternoon wedding and reception at the
Houston County Country Club. Being the hopeless romantic that I am, I quickly made plans
for a short trip to Dog River. Today's
Guest
My guest today was Mr.Roger Bentley. You may remember Roger
as the man who took home the "Most Improved" honors last year. Roger received
this award for finally realizing the difference between a cane pole and a rod & reel.
Roger has been at LaFarge for over 30 yrs and has established himself as an icon of
success in the cement business. His goal today was to do the same with the DRCFA. He
simply wanted a chance to "get in the hunt" for the coveted Carp King Award.
Many upgrades on the ALVA D have been made since Roger's last trip. I hoped these
improvements wouldnt distract him from the task at hand. It is so much harder to
stay focused on Carpin once you are sitting high in a swivel seat with a soft back
and your rods are mounted in store bought rod holders..... I hope I'm not spoiling my
guests.
The Results
Most Improved? Indeed! Distracted and not focused? Hardly! In
three short hours Roger not only bumped Ted out of second place but also whupped the Ol'
Captain seven Carp to one !! Roger's best weighed in at 1 lb, 13 ounces which put him on
the board at second place. Sorry, Ted. There will be other days.
Folks it's not about corn and Carp. It's about time spent
with friends. Roger...I had a great morning. We will do it again real soon!

Thought for the Week
Women and cats will do as they please, and men
and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.

Life Lesson
"In spite of our high-tech world and
efficient procedures, people remain the essential ingredient of life. When we forget that,
a strange thing happens: We start treating people like inconveniences instead of
assets." From Laugh Again By Charles Swindoll
