Shocked on the ALVA D !
My guest today was Mr. Gary Lawhon of G & L Electric. To
be honest I was a little shocked when Gary agreed to go Carpin with
me. I really didnt know quite watt to expect. Even though we have
known each other for some time now, we have never fished together. Weve tried to hook
up a time or two before but it seems that each time I tried to relay
a message to him we always got our wires crossed. My dream today was that
we would catch Carp with such frequency that Gary would simply blow a fuse!
After checking the ambient temperature we boarded the ALVA D. As soon as
our feet left the ground and we started upstream I knew the current was
in our favor! There was no wind so we had very little resistance as we
flipped on my electric trolling motor to begin phase one
of our journey. Gary works a lot and I knew it might be difficult for him to make the switch
from electrician to Carp technician. How did it go
today? Did we generate any fun? Did Gary light up the scoreboard? I
thought you would never ask.
Results
Only one fish was caught today on the beautiful ALVA D. You
are probably saying. Ohm my! What could have possibly short-circuited
the Carp today? Did someone pull the plug on Dog River? Before you get a
dim view of this report let me illuminate you with a theory. As of this
morning, 212 Carp have been caught and released since March on the ALVA D. Every fish was
caught in the creek to the left of the boat ramp. There are those who think the Carp have
gotten their full load and are now repelling our bait.
If this is true then we have flipped our own circuit breaker causing the
Carp bite to cease! Have we simply overloaded the power supply?
You all know that the DRCFA is not a static
organization. The Ol Captain and the Board of Directors are not going to let you
down. Im not sure watt the answer is, but I can promise that we
will soon come up with an alternating current.
Earlier I shared that only one fish was caught. That means
one of us got skunked. Want to know who did what? Ask Gary. Im positive
that he will tell you the truth! I am attaching a picture of todays guest. Please be
sure to read todays Life Lesson below.
Life Lesson
You just never know what will happen in this old world. I
shared earlier that Ive known Gary for quite some time. Little did we know when we
first met that years later his beautiful daughter, Meredith, would marry my wonderful son,
Chad. I am also attaching a picture of Jacob and Macie today. You see, these two beautiful
children call Gary Granddaddy and they call me Pap. Jacob is
starting the First grade this year and Macie is entering Kindergarten. Just like
electricity, the cycle of life continues.
Until next time, Keep on Carpin'
