ALVA D Facing Federal Investigation?

It seems these days that Uncle Sam wants to get involved in everything. We are taxed on every corner and the government seems to always have the upper hand. Property tax, school tax, sales tax, income tax...where will it end? There are government inquiries hopping up all around us. Is nothing sacred anymore? Can we just not get away from the system? I thought the ALVA D was just the ticket to escape from this type of pressure until today.

Today, April 5th, 2003 a federal Agent stepped aboard the ALVA D.Will things ever be the same? Read on and see.........

My guest today was retired FBI agent, Grant Purdy. Apparently Mr. Purdy had heard that there has been some action going on aboard the ALVA D and he intended to investigate! On the street the word was out. Guests were getting "high" aboard my boat! Little did he know until this afternoon that the source of this euphoria was the simple pursuit of the Golden Ghosts of Dog River!!! The chase for these "Eastern Bonefish" can make a man do crazy things ( like writing these reports, for example). Once you have been Carpin’ aboard the ALVA D you will never be the same!

Today's Story

We anchored some time after 1:00 PM. By 6:00 PM we had boated 14 Carp! Grant moved into 2nd place in our standings today with a 2lb, 2 oz golden submarine! Four places are filled with one to go! It’s only a matter of time, Higginbotham. These guys are in hot pursuit!

One of today’s highlights included the Ol’ Captain with a close encounter with a snapping turtle. Another highlight was when the friendly Fed hooked into a double! He skillfully played both rods like a master violinist and boated both Carp! I knew then that this guy was doing more than a routine investigation!

Life Lesson

What kind of fisherman are you? Grant Purdy is a Bass fisherman. Grant also is a fine Christian man with a love for Jesus Christ. He teaches and speaks in local churches from time to time as well as doing fishing seminars in Georgia and Alabama. His seminars are done to teach children about the great outdoors and to share a word about the One who created it all. How about you? Catching any? Jesus told Peter and Andrew..."Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men."

Want more info? See you in church tomorrow!

Until next time, keep those lines tight and the drag set just right!
