My guest this morning was Mr.
Dennis Brown. Dennis has just returned from a whirlwind Easter season acting gig where he
portrayed a disciple with the CLBC Drama Guild. I felt like if he could pull that one off
then surely he would be able to masquerade or pose as a Carp fisherman for a few hours
this morning. Some of you will remember Dennis as being last years recipient of the
DRCFA's Rookie of the Year award. He set the pace quickly last season by
catching a six pound Carp in early May. If he repeats today, King Goff will be history!
Today's Story Anticipating a big day, Dennis
"They call me the Fireman" Brown arrived on the scene early this morning. We
were scheduled to meet at 8:00 AM but he was there and ready when I arrived at 7:40. Even
though he has been down with a back injury lately, this veteran Atlanta firefighter was
anxious for a morning of Carp-Pull Tunnel Syndrome. These men are tough. Work in pain,
golf in pain, fish in pain. Its all the same. This type of character makes up the
stuff from which men of the DRCFA are made.
We anchored early and it wasnt long before Dennis had
hooked into the first of 12 Carp that he would land today! Masquerade? Charade ? Anything
but! Dennis put on a Carp Clinic today and out-Carped the Ol Captain 12 glimmering,
glistening ghosts to 5!
There were a couple of highlights today. When you spend some
quiet time aboard the ALVA D you learn about a fella. You get to know what he really likes
and dislikes. I learned today that Dennis doesnt drink Sprite. I also learned that
he is not fond of Water Moccasins that swim near the boat! Imagine that?
Another highlight was when yours truly hooked into a double.
Fishing with a two-hook rig I got a fish on both hooks! I brought them to the surface but
just as I reached for the camera.......You know the rest of the story I'm sure.
It was a great morning. We laughed at least 4 of the 5 hours
and once again, two men could be two boys for just a little while. That, my friends is
what fishing is all about!
By the way, Dennis caught a 3LB, 6 oz glittering ghost that
placed him in 3rd place. It was a great morning! I can hardly wait til next time!
Please take note of the cap that Dennis is wearing. Don't be
fooled! There was nothing Goofy or Mickey Mouse about this man's determination today!

An actor's a guy who, if you ain't talking
about him, he ain't listening. - Marlon Brando
Life Lesson
"There is one thing that you can count on in this world,
and that is, you will all have to face the pressures of this life; there is no escape! You
will have to face your enemies, your financial problems, your sorrows, your worries, your
disappointments, and your loss of loved ones. But there is something else that you can
count on as well, and that is, you don't have to face these pressures all by yourself. As
a Christian you can rejoice in knowing that Jesus is always with you and will lead you
through the trials and tribulations that life will bring your way. Remember, Jesus has
already overcome this world, and will lovingly help you to overcome it as well."
