The
LaFavor Chronicles
            by Horace LaFavor

There are kings and there are those who wish to be king. Yesterday a new DRCFA Carp King was crowned. Mr.Charlie Goff proudly replaced the former king with style and grace.Today, less than 24 hours after his inauguration, King Goff's reign and regime was challenged!! That’s the way it is when you are at the top of your game. Someone is always trying to shoot you down. Just like the westerns. It isn’t safe for any gunslinger to ride into town with his guard down. It doesn't’t matter if you are King Goff or Liberty Valance. Someone is always wanting fame and fortune at your expense. It is lonely at the top.

Today's Story

My guest and challenger today was Sam Marlow. Sam is not usually a Carp man but after viewing the prizes and realizing the possibilities of fame and fortune, he stepped up to the occasion. Sam is not one to do things second rate so I knew King Goff might be in trouble.

After a hearty Huddle House breakfast we anchored by 9:00AM. By 12:15 PM a total of 14 Carp had been brought aboard the ALVA D. Sam came close but no cigar today! He did however boat a 3 Lb, 11 Oz beauty which put him in clear second place. The competition is beginning to heat up! Enjoy it while you can Charlie! These guys are gunning for you!

(ec: Sam's left hand is shown illustrating the proper technique used to successfully pull off the 12 oz. tail pull maneuver. Viewers may be wondering why he wasted such a tactic on 2nd place...?? kh)

Special Note

Please note that the Ol' Captain came through with a 4 lb, 13 ouncer today. I'm just a humble guide but the public needs to know the truth as it happens! (Editorial Comment: Whatever!)

Tomorrow is Sunday

What will you be doing? Let me suggest that you go to your local church and worship the God who made the beautiful creation that you enjoyed today. The Dogwoods, the Honeysuckle trees, the green grass and a cattle on a thousand hills. It is all His! Hope to see you in church tomorrow.

Until next time, keep those lines tight and the drag set just right!! Captain Horace
