People:
Please try to control yourselves!! I know the power of the
pen is extraordinary but I can't stand this pressure! Haven't read a fishing report in a
week? Well, get over it!! The Alva D reports are so hot that they're being requested
before they are even written!! I may have to resort to even making things up!! Where will
it all end??
Did you honestly think a little rain would keep this fine
vintage vessel in port today? Are we men or are we mice? Did the US mail run today? Is it
Saturday? Does a chicken have lips ? Of course we fished today!! Not only did we go but we
went with a flare. More power to the ALVA D! We have retired the twenty five year old 8-10
lbs thrust Shakespeare trolling motor for a newly converted from bow to transom mounted 43
pounds of thrust Motorguide trolling motor. The Game warden may cite me now for a wake
violation ( If he can catch me!). You may even need to resort to wearing your Braves cap
backwards when traveling from spot to spot. By the way, to some folks, backwards is now
forwards but bill in front is still considered forwards aboard the ALVA D ( know what I
mean, Vern?)
Now for the report....
Many of you know my EX-best friend Sam Marlow. For twenty
plus years we have fished together. Like bacon and eggs, Spic and Span, P-nut butter and
jelly. A symphony of synchronization on the water.....until today. He outfished me 6-1 in
cats with one 3 1/2 pounder ( don't let him tell you it was bigger). Does a man taunt a
friend of two score years? Does he belittle his catch? He does and he did. Will he mention
that I caught a pb carp today?? (personal best). Probably not but it did weigh 5 Lbs 14 oz
( at least).
I am now taking applications for a new friend and someone
that I can out fish. Marlow and those Turner boys are starting to get on my nerves.
On a more serious note... Did you realize that a sovereign
and loving God created the creeks, rivers, oceans and steams that many of us so dearly
love? He made them and gave them to us to have dominion over. He also made us to worship
Him. Tomorrow is Sunday. What will you be doing?
Tight lines,
Horace
John 21:5-6
