Trip to Dublin

Toilet

20p was charged to get into the toilet. I tried to put 20p, but it did not work because of the difference of currency.

Money

I need to change British Pound into Irish Pound. But the troulble is the changer service has been already closed. I have to find some other way to get out of the state of broke.

First I found Bank of Ireland. It was huge building, but no light has turned on the building. I thought it has already been closed.

Secondly, I managed to find Ulster Bank automatic Casher service. I put my card in it, although it could be dangerous to withdraw a lot of money in front of the public. I did not want to, but I had no choice. I have got 100 Irish Pounds. I have had a sigh of relief and at the same time, attracted by the currency I saw for the first time.

Dinner

I thought it could be better to find an accommodation while it is still bright. But I was too hungry to think about anything. I walked and found a pub. And I entered one pub. I ordered gTraditional Irish Stewh and gGUINESSh, paying respect to the traditional Irish culture. Though I saw the people next to me eating pretty nice tropical food that I love.

But the food was pretty good. Irish Stew was completely different from what I had in the restaurant in the University of Ulster. Inside the lamb stew, mashed potato was just put at the center. They are not mingled each other. I though this is better for taste.

GUINESS was far better than what I had before. That is because this is where it is from. I enjoyed a wonderful pint of GUINESS and got a drunk a bit.

After eating both of the meals, I felt I was satisfied, more than that they were too much.

Accommodation

I found an accommodation while I was finding some place for food. I just popped into there. That cost 10 pounds per night. I thought it was not bad.

The guy appeared from the counter was a little bit wimp. He smiled like odd. But the accommodation it self had no problem. Sometimes, because of the train running just beyond the accommodation, it could be a little bit noisy in the peak season. But that did not matter. I had slept 10 consecutive hours from 8pm to 6am.

I found free toilet, free shower room and free sink. I have used it for brushing my teeth etc. And there was even a computer service in the Ground Floor. I have paid 50p first to read Cindyfs e-mail and Michifs e-mail. But I couldnft read the third mail from recruit-navi. So, I put another 50p coin, but it did not work in the second time. I think that is probably because it had got a freeze. I pressed the greseth button according to the instruction but it said, gPlease insert a coin.h What a crapc

Morning Hours

After using the Internet, I was reading THE TIMES newspapers I bought in Derry in the previous day. I thought it could be a bit strange to read those unionist newspapers at headquarter of the Ireland. But people in the lounge were only the wimp guy and me.

Finished reading political sections of the paper, I felt like walking outside. So, I picked up all my belongings and went out.

On my way to the main street, I found a SPAR convenience store. I bought sandwiches, flavored farmer land brunch, which sounded new to me, and orange juice.

Education ministryfs somethingc

After buying all those stuffs, I found a strange old facility with one old guy eating Yogurt flavored raspberry. He began to talk to me that gYogurt is good for our healthch And I agreed.

He continued to talk to me about the facility he was taking charge as his security job. gAll those we can see are schoolsh, gYou can be a language teacher if you can ask there, brabrabrach

He asked my Christian name, and as apparently I did not have any of that, so I told him that I didnft have but my name is Kengo. And he answered, gOh, itfs a lovely nameh and smiled. I was in a world of wonderland at that time, because I havenft been thinking that my name is lovely, though lovely means different according to the place you are from. But I just took it in American way and thought it was really funny.

He gave me lots of information about the famous tourist site such as St. Patrick Cathedral, Dublin Castle etc. that I was going to visit later.

Well sounds pretty funny guy, and seemingly the facility is interesting, I had thought it could be interesting to visit there later, though I didnft.

He gave another information which is about breakfast. He told me that Bewleyfs has lots of nice Irish breakfast. So, I decided to try that one. I appreciate that guy and began to try to find that cafeteria called Bewleyfs and make my feet advanced, seeking for the polish I was going to eat for the first time.

Bewley's

I found that the cafeteria according to the instruction of the old guy and the guy standing on the street selling papers.

I put my sandwiches I bought at SPAR in the bag and drink all the orange juice because I was suffering from the thirst from the morning.

I went in and ordered Hashed Potatoes, Bacon, Egg, Bread.

But before anything, I had ordered polish that I wanted to eat. After struggling with finding out where it is, I finally got the stuff from the backside of the main menu. As I had heard, it was a mixture of milk and rice.

Every menu was pretty good. Polish was a little bit strange to me, though it was not totally bad. I ate all those stuff, feeling full and thinking of the way what I was going to do in the whole day.

Toilet in the Bewley's

I had a nice comfortable toilet time for the first time. Before now, I just experienced 20p toilet that I couldnft get in and the toilet without any lock and without any separation of sex in the first accommodation. I felt like spending hours here, reading newspapers.

Tourist Office

I found a tourist office while I was wandering after the breakfast. Because of no clue except for some I got from the stranger in front of the Education something in the morning. I went into the building and got some manuals about Dublin city. According to the map, Dublin castle will be the most probable candidate because it was the closest. I decided to go there.

I bought a purse in order to put my Irish Pounds in it.

Stranger without teeth

I met a stranger without teeth. He was a person of hospitality, showing all the way to the Dublin castle. And I could save lots of time thinking about the way to the Dublin Castle.

Dublin Castle

CTB Gallery

There are so much varieties of arts and architecture, concerning with the life and religion of lots of countries in the world.

I am not going to illustrate all stuff I saw, but basically they were categorized in three sections; Islamic, Asian and Western.

In the first floor, lots of literatures were exhibited. With the literature, descriptions and instructions placed, which are well deliberated and concise. It reminds me of lots of things I forgot and taught me what I did not know concerning with history. In Islam, there were so many things about each Islamic country, such as Iran, Turkey etc. Basically these Islamic stuffs got a god ornament. In Asian section, I saw lots of stuff concerning with the stuff I had been familiar with on TV or reference. In Western section, lots of styles of arts were shown. Etching , scribing techniques and Encraving were the most dominant there.

In the second floor, religion arts were placed with considerable security. Hindu, Buddhism that I have been familiar with, Islam, Christianity I was eagerly reading were there.

I was so crazy about all those arts. I had spent four hours looking all those exhibitions.

More than anything, it was miracle that one man can collect such an abundant amount of rare arts in a life. I know he was really rich, because of his mining career in West America.

Those collections were all donation from Chetter Beaty. I am sure he had too much money to use all of them. I envy him.

Christ Church Cathedral

Following the instructions of a guy I met in the Gallery, I tried to find the next spot. He told me the way to go to Christ Church Cathedral, gGo straight to the end. Turn right. Pass by fish and Chips shops and you will see the one right in front of you.h I saw fish and chips store smelled pretty good, but I did not get in, following the instructions.

The building was huge, though I have read some books that the height of building is showing the authority. I donft like to think about the authority of the church or the God or whatever in this section. But it was pretty tall.

And the shape was like Romanesque architecture.

I saw some people sitting at the bench in front of the church. This is the place for our relaxation I thought.

Inside, I saw magnificent view of the church. Unlike outside, it was Gothic style and lots of religious paintings were there.

Before seeing all those stuffs, I was asked for donation for the church without any compulsory. Though I knew it is not compulsory, I thought I did not want to feel bad, because of my not paying donation, so I just paid their requirements, 1 Pounds.

There were lots of arts stocked in this museum. It seems ironical, but I just could not help feeling like it, because I would rather support Protestant Churches. Catholic Churches are too rich and spend all those money on these ornaments not for the publics. Although I accept that it was pretty beautiful to see.

And this building had lots of historical event in itself. Lots of musicians and politicians had visited. But before that, this place was surrounded by lots of people, music etc. Churches were the center of the lives of indigenous people. Also there were lots of politicians involved in this church from 16 century. Here again, I am not going to write all of those, though I canft probably summarize what was there well enough. Excuse me for my lack of knowledge.

P.S. 2 Pounds were surcharged to get into the Underground museums.

Lunch

I ate sandwiches I bought in the morning just outside the church sitting on the branch. But I was still hungry so I decided to get inn the Fish and Chips restaurant I passed before. But I thought it was too expensive for just lunch. So, I got into the cafeteria just next to the fish and chips restaurant.

I had scorn and orange juice in the cafeteria, thinking about the way to get to the next place, the old guy told me in the morning, St. Patrick Church.

St. Patrick Church

I had been accustomed to the geography of Dublin around this time. So I had no problems getting to the St. Patrick Church as well.

Just in front of the church, there was a very big garden in which citizens were taking a rest with quite a big foundation.

I knew churches were pretty big here, because of the political involvement and donation before. But I thought that Catholic churches were basically too luxury.

Inside, fortunately there was travelers group going there. And the Pope started to make preach for those tourists. I came across a marvelous instance that the mass was taken place just in front of me in this authentic church.

It seems that the St. Patrick started to believe in Christian dogma because of the despair he had experienced in the life in Ireland. It might be because of this fucking weather. He was completely indifferent to the Christianity when he was young like 16 years old. But after he went back to Britain, he got back to the monarch, won some wars and achieved the top, with the help of the God? I thought that was the story.

There were lots of Union Jack flags in the church. I was just wondering why everyone approves of keeping putting all those flags in the church. Here is an Ireland. And there had been lots of confrontation between these countries. They just want to keep the historical fact? Is this museum or church?

GUINESS http://newwww.guinness.com

Guiness is one of the most popular drinks in the world. Even for me, this drink is familiar in my life. It has a pretty funky image, because of the funny advertisement and funny alcoholic stereotype of Irish people.

But at the moment, I went into Guiness com, I have noticed that there is a huge cognitive difference between Guiness, what it is.

There are actually lots of ideas and efforts in the invention of Guiness, represented by Arthur Guiness. Not only ingredients that he invented. There are lots of other processes that can be seen as quite technical.

I have amazed by the development of the transportation for delivering Guiness to the distant places. They installed a railaway system inside the factory and make transport effective. And as the advancement of lots of transportation system in our life, guiness.com adopted the new technology into its

Tactics and achieved the global share in our modern society.

And I was completely deceived by the funny persona of the Guiness. I knew guiness is quite international drink, though it is typical in Ireland. But the thing is, this kind of global company is normally very skillful in lots of measures in production, transportation, advertisement and management.

Funny ad is the most attractive point of Guiness. Actually, Guiness ad book is one of the biggest best seller, excluding the Bible and Quran, sacred scribbles.

Product must be familiar with the consumer. And normal public consumers actually do not like the serious stuff. If you look at the gap between the iner seriousness and external appearance of ad, you will definitely know that it is brilliant, true brilliancy. Brilliant looks foolish like everybody else and mingled into the normal public life.

After I looked those serious side of Guiness, I have noticed that not only guiness but also every product that is around myself must have come from lots of ideas and efforts among lots of people. Every belongings of our life looks bit stupid, but actually they are showing us the persona of their friendly looking.

And I just heard the voice from all over the town, when I was drinking in the pub in the top of the guiness.com building seeing the whole from above, gWe are doing our bestc, you gotta do it, boy!h But that voice sounds rather familiar, which is like what I am always hearingc And I felt encouraged before getting into the capitalistic society.

Temple Bar

One of the coolest bars in Dublin is Temple Bar. On the last night of my Dublin trip, I enjoyed a lot on drinking, listening to the music and imagining the life of the people drinking in the bar through watching their facial expressions
