Greek Sesame Seed Cookies
1 cup butter or margarine
1 3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
2/3 cup toasted sesame seeds
4 cups all purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup water
1/2 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
Mix butter,sugar and eggs until fluffy. Measure flour by dipping method or by sifting. Blend dry ingredients; add alternately with water to sugar mixture. Roll dough in thin plastic bags or between thin plastic .Do not chill. Roll quite thin. (By rolling in plastic you don't have to flour it too much and as a result it doesn't get tough) Measure and cut dough into strips 5/8 inches x 2/3/4 inches. Sprinkle and press entire side of rolled dough with sesame seeds. Loop one end over other at right angle to the other making bowl knot effect.Place on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes, or until lightly brown.
