Step one: Ask. Ask to be led to a Greater Truth, a higher level of understanding.
Step two: Take down your walls. People say "If it isn't in the Bible then God didn't say it. That is a wall. Some people say "I'll believe it when an angel presents himself in my living room and tells me" or "I'll believe it when I'm struck by lightning." Those are walls. Seekers must open themselves up to any language or means God may wish to use.
Step three: Watch, look and listen very carefully to each event or message that comes into your life, no matter how unimportant it may seem. Think about that, and see if it might be an answer to your question, a hint in your life, in some way meaningful to you. Listen for the beat of your Drummer. Or is it your mind messing with you? You'll make mistakes.
God is the entire Universe, much greater than the Bible, much larger than a religion or a philosophy. You'll see.
Caution: Do not ask for a Greater Truth lightly. It may come at a price. If you enjoy being safe and comfortable and traditional it's OK to stay where you are.
