We lived in Heaven as discarnate Spirits.
Spirits want to learn.
Some Spirits choose to remain as discarnates and learn in that venue.
Some Spirits choose to learn by entering the physical plane, which they do by joining with a human body at or around the time of birth, becoming the Soul of that person.
Spirits incarnate into the physical plane each with their own agenda, the things they wish to experience.
Some humans listen to the guidance of the Soul and act accordingly.
Some humans don't listen to the Soul but act according to emotions, and so the Soul goes to sleep and waits to be released (at the demise of the physical body).
When the body dies, all Spirits go to Heaven. We don't just "go" to Heaven; we "go home" to Heaven.
Once the Spirit has returned to Heaven it may then choose another learning experience; another incarnation into another human body. If the Spirit experienced great wealth in the physical plane, it may want to experience the other side of the coin, poverty, for example.
The Spirit can divide into a limitless number of Souls, the idea being to learn more things, but causing the learning experience of each Soul to be slowed or diminished.
Angels taught me that they, our Soul/Spirit, our God connection, God, are intimately involved in our lives and have the power to control the most minute detail of them.
Our God connection takes into account our human desires and, taking the Spiritual agenda into account, may or may not act on them.
There is one God. Whatever name we use, however we perceive It, there is one God.

Angels taught me there is a place, or a dimension, we commonly refer to as "Heaven."
