| The real CF-CQZ was owned by Lloyd Winterburn, he was one of Tex's F86 Sabre buddies from the RCAF. Sadly , Mr. Winterburn passed away in 99 and the Cub was sold. click on photos to enlarge them.
The model CF-CQZ was built by C.W. (Tex) Gehman aka Sabrejock. The 1/4 scale model was built from the Sig kit. The model has flow with a number of different power plants from slimers to electric Astro 40G.
I bought the model in the fall of 2000. I am currently
installing a Ryobi 31cc gas motor on CH ignition.
Dec 24/00 - Cub is complete, ready to fly in the spring. Takeoff
weight is 14.5 pounds with the Ryobi engine.
Just a small part of the spark plug cover sticks out the bottom. 2001 Pics (click on pics to enlarge) The Cub is a sweetheart to fly and the Ryobi swings a 18x8 prop. At 1/4 throttle the model flies at scale speed and one can do touch and goes until the cows come home. |
