The Baseball Database is a combination of an historical database and a Windows application which provides access to that database. All on the hard drive of your PC. It is intended to complement other sources. It provides a fresh and different way to enjoy the most interesting data. All the all-time leaders.

The design has a single menu. It also has common command buttons on most windows. Learning to navigate should be instinctive and consistent. There is almost no need to use the keyboard, only the mouse. No need to learn syntax. Merely click the various options.

This product is intended for a mature audience. It is perfect for use in the office. Unlike a game, a casual glance at your PC screen gives the impression that you are working. Employee morale will soar as your co-workers gather around your cubicle to settle those water cooler arguments:

How often was Dave Winfield among league leaders in major batting categories? Click menu Batters All, then go to Winfield's record and click the Top 5 button.

Included in all versions:

All-time leaders for lifetime records show the player's complete lifetime stats. All-time leaders for season records show the player's complete season stats. Can look at all players in a category or limit to an era:

MVP, Cy Young and Triple Crown winners show the player's complete season stats.

III. Technical requirements:

1. Hardware Requirements:

- 32 meg RAM or more
- mouse or comparable pointing device - Pentium or better
- VGA (640 x 480) monitor or better
- 50 meg free on hard drive
- 56K modem or better

2. Software Requirements:

- Microsoft Windows 95 or better

*Requires DCOM and MDAC PRIOR to running the BaseBall DataBase setup.*

Close ALL programs, including those running in the background such as virus checker.

Then add two Microsoft components: DCOM and MDAC.

Microsoft states that users need to add two Microsoft components: DCOM and MDAC. DCOM is already included in Windows 98 and NT. Only users running Windows 95 would need to add it. DCOM must be added before MDAC. Here are the Microsoft references for these two components.

MDAC to download file mdac_typ.exe

After downloading dcom95.exe and mdac_typ.exe, run them to intall the Microsoft components. Remember, only Windows 95 requires DCOM.

Version 7.0 of the BaseBall DataBase consists of only 8 files (setup.exe, setup.lst plus six .cab files. CAB files contain multiple compressed files. There are no zipped files. This eliminates the need to unzip and reduces the size off any one file being backup up.

During setup, if asked to choose between versions of a file, always choose the newer version.

I became aware of your product when I saw it mentioned on ZDTV's "Internet Tonight". I'm not a big baseball fan myself, but I immediately thought of my son-in-law, who IS! What a great gift this will be for him...my daughter won't be able to get him to do anything around the house for at least the first week after he gets this program; he'll be glued to the computer. Downloaded and installed your database. Very, very nice piece of work!! Pretty darn high quality if you ask me, and even if you don't ask me.

Read your essay on rating players using the Top 5 numbers. I am thinking out some type of commentary to make. Just off the top of my head, it seems I have concerns about colinearity of most of the items. You know, more HR's probably lead to more RBI's, and so forth.
