| How they evolved into... THE BEATLES March 1957: John Lennon froms a skiffle group called the QUARRY MEN. July '57: Paul McCartney joins John in the QUARRY MEN. February '58: George Harrison joins the QUARRY MEN via Paul. October '59: The QUARRY MEN become JOHNNY AND THE MOONDOGS. April '60: Stuart Sutcliffe joins the group; a month later the group becomes THE SILVER BEETLES. August '60: The SILVER BEETLES officially become the BEATLES. Also, Pete Best joins as drummer. June '61: Stu leaves the group and will not be replaced. (He died in 1962 from a cerebral hemmorhage.) August '62: Pete is replaced by Ringo Starr (Richard Starkey), a former member of Rory Storm and the Hurricanes. The rest, as they say, was history!! April '70: Paul says he will leave the BEATLES. That New Year's Eve, he files a lawsuit to dissolve the BEATLES officially. |
