Aftercalm: A Trigun Fanfic By Ken Scott (Note: MAJOR spoilers ahead! Unless you want the story ruined for you, don't read this!) "Hey, Dad! Watch this!" "I'm watching, Kyle." Vash sat on a chair as his twin children, Kyle and Liah, played. He had since replaced his prostetic arm gun with a normal type of prostetic. It was eight years ago that he had fought the battle with his evil twin brother. The events that had led up to it were quite tragic. Who knew he would have the compassion to let that megalomaniac live? After all the heartache and pain he had caused... His brother had tarnished his name and sent his henchmen after him, JUST to get him to give in to evil. Thoughts of the Gung Ho Guns brought shivers to Vash's spine... especially Legato! That bastard had the arm that Knives had shot off. Did he have those mind-control powers before Vash's decapitated limb was sewn on... or was he always that eviland twisted? Vash wished he knew, but that was all in the past now... "I tried Rem..." he muttered. Yes, Vash DID kill Legato, but he didn't have the choice... Or did he? All the Gung Ho Guns had been sent after him one by one. And he had defeated them without killing them. Each one either got murdered by their brethren or took the coward's way out... Occasionally, Wolfwood was the one who had killed some of them. Wolfwood. He was the deciple of Chapel the Evergreen. Chapel told Wolfwood that he was technically a Gung Ho Gun. Wolfwood refused to join, and when he tried to settle things Vash's way, he died for it. The twisted Legato took over Chapel's mind and slaughtered him! The memory was painful... He then went and confronted his evil brother, armed with his and Wolfwood's gun. They fought to a stalemate until Wolfwood's gun turned the battle to Vash's favor. Knives weak threshhold of pain was ultimately his downfall. It WAS only a flesh wound... For a man who enjoyed inflicting pain and death, he sure could not take it! Vash then left his stuff behind, including his trenchcoat. He slung Knives over his shoulder and carried him into town. He got a heros welcome and he handed Knives over to a psychiatric ward. When Vash told Meryl that he had left his stuff in the desert, she freaked. "What if some kid finds all those guns?" she had said, "Then someone might get hurt! Or killed!!" Unable to argue with her logic, he went and brought the stuff back. Even now, the guns were hidden in a safety deposit box in a safe somewhere. The trenchcoat was still hung up in the closet. That damn jacket! The jacket, along with that prostetic arm, that was given to him by the SEED survivors had been the start of his problems... the jacket that resulted in billions of bounty hunters hounding him! And then! And then the Insurance girls started to follow him around! 24/7! But still, if it didn't happen, he wouldn't have married Meryl and been blessed with the twins. And Milly? She was content in marrying his brother. He had a great psychologist who cured him. When he was finally released, he and Milly fell in love, married, and had a son named Wolfwood (Milly's suggestion). He had married Meryl about the same time and a year later, the twins were born! Marriage was kind to Vash. Before, Meryl always seemed like she had PMS all the time. But when they got married, she seemed to settle down a bit. She was a real frisky woman whenever he didn't wear a shirt. Maybe it was the scars... Yes. Live seemed to be quite uneventful these days, he thought as the twins continued to play. Liah was kind of a rambunctious young girl and always seemed to be getting into some kind of mischief, but always escaped unscathed. Kyle, however, seemed to keep to himself lately. But they were both loved by their parents all the same. They both reminded Vash of someone... Vash shook that idea. Perhaps he was just imagining it. "Dad-eeee!" yelled the children. "I'm watching!" replied Vash dreamily. And a soccer ball hit him in the head. "SOCCER-BALL HEAD!" screamed Vash chasing after his giggling children with the ball firmly suctioned in his mouth. THE END. Well, I hope you enjoyed it. I hope you don't mind that I may have spoiled some of the story for you. everything that took place AFTER Vash's battle with Knives was just a fragment of my caffiene-induced imagination. Toodles...
