WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE A SPIRITUAL MOMENT?

Perhaps one of these two exercises will make your soul tremble with delight, if only for a moment.

1. Crucifixion
2. Exodus

Crucifixion

For this, it might help to get some kind of image of Jesus on the cross and hold it above your head to help you imagine that he is hanging way up high. Also, I recommend that you ask somebody else to read the following words to you so you can concentrate on the experience better. Note: Some of this is borrowed from the lyrics of the song "The Look" by Bob Kauflin.

Imagine that you are there, at the foot of the cross. You look up at Jesus hanging above. You see his wounds. You see the blood flowing down his body and dripping onto the ground. You see the expression of agony on his face. Now, your sins begin passing through your head. Each horrible thing you did enters your mind, and then it's replaced by a sin that is even more despicable. As you are thinking about all of your sins, Jesus raises his head and looks directly at you. His eyes stare into your eyes and into your soul. But he doesn't say a word. You feel convicted. Then he begins to speak: "Don't you understand? I freely chose to do this. I decided to die... so that you may live."

Exodus

I recommend that you ask somebody else to read the following words to you so you can concentrate on the experience better.

Pretend that you are one of the thousands of Israelites following Moses through the desert. Just a few weeks ago, you were a slave. Your back still hurts from carrying those huge rocks. And you will never forget the ten incredible plagues that you witnessed. You saw darkness cover the entire land for three whole days. You smelled the blood that filled the Nile River. You were told about all of the Egyptian animals dying, while your horses are walking right behind you, perfectly healthy. You heard the wailing of Egyptians when their children died, while your children were joyfully jumping and dancing around you. And now you are free. You get all the sleep your body wants. There is plenty of food and water. You feel better than you have ever felt before. But the future doesn't look good at all. You can hear the great Egyptian army approaching from the west. There are mountains to the north and mountains to the south, and the east is blocked by a great sea. Your children cling to you and tell you they are afraid. You can think of nothing encouraging to say. Soon you will be captured, and you can only imagine the terrible things that will be done to you. But then you see the most unbelievable sight. This miracle is greater than anything you have ever imagined. Your breath catches in your throat and your heart flips as you look at this: click here
