WHO WOULD YOU RATHER BE?
An eight-year-old girl is resting her head on a pillow as she lies down
on the cold hard ground. Her stomach grumbles, because she hasn't eaten
anything since the hurricane destroyed her home and killed her family
three days ago. But today she was unable to find any drinkable water,
so her thirst is much stronger than her hunger now. As the temperature drops in the open desert night, her
body shivers. Then she remembers that she is in a personal relationship
with The Eternal God. Instantly, she feels an inner warmth spread
throughout her entire body, and her trust in the Lord's promises
instills a sense of peace in her heart. With a smile on her face, she
drifts off into sleep.
A 38-year-old American
tosses and turns on his soft bed with four fluffy pillows and a thick
warm blanket. He has had the worst day ever. At work, his boss chewed
him out for something that he didn't do. He came home in a state of
rage, but instead of offering compassion and sympathy, his wife
responded by reflecting his anger right back at him. She refused to
make him dinner, so he had to stick a TV dinner in the microwave. And
nobody had bothered to buy any soda, so the only thing he had to drink
was ice water. Now his mind is racing with thoughts of vengeance
against his boss and wife. He will not get much sleep tonight.
