THE LIFE PURPOSE STATEMENT
of
Ken Samuel
In the final chapter of The Purpose-Driven Life,
Rick Warren recommends that I draft a "Life Purpose Statement" to
"affirm [my] commitment to God's... purposes for [my] life." (p.313)
I
will keep God at the center of my life. I will want nothing more or
less than that which God wants. I will need nothing more or less than
God and whatever God wants me to need.
I will strive to be a man
of 1) good character as defined by God, 2) spiritual understanding of
who God is and what He wants, 3) alert discipline to recognize when I
am straying from God's will, 4) passionate perseverence even when I
stumble into sin, 5) reverent wonder for God's miracles, 6) warm
friendliness to God's image bearers, and 7) generous love given freely
to my friends as well as my enemies. (II Peter 1:5-7)
I will
actively seek opportunities to help others with the gifts that God
gives me, regularly demonstrating the grace of God. (I Peter 4:10) This
includes extending the IIII web site, enabling my therapy dog to help
those in need, taking good care of my pets, giving money to people who
are in debt, and amusing others with humor.
I will always be
prepared to give an answer to anyone who asks me why I have so much
hope, always doing this with gentleness and respect. (I Peter 3:15)
I will act lovingly to each and every one of God's children that I encounter.
In
summary: My life purpose is to follow God's will, strive to be holy,
serve others with my gifts, teach people about God, and love my fellow
believers.
