What's New
Well, I crashed
my bike! :-(
Here's my story:
I almost reached
the top of Mt. Cheaha(Alabama), going around one of
the last corners (at least that's what I was told) a little hot. I hit
the grass on the shoulder and I think I fell to the low side, but then
thrown to the high side. It all happened so fast, I'm not sure exactly
what happened. The pics of the bike don't give a whole lot of clues
either. It just looks like I should have been hurt bad, but thankfully
I wasn't. Anyway, when I became aware of myself I was groaning and
still trying to figure out where I was.
I don't remember who was there
first, but alot of kind people stopped and made sure that I was ok.
After a while, an unnamed guy who said he was medical something or
rather looked me over, did I finally sit up. Well, I sat up mostly,
because they were saying that when the EMT's get there, they would cut
my jacket...I didn't want that. It wasn't until I sat up that I
realized that my feet where under the guard rail that ran along the
side of the turn. The EMT's got there and assessed me, and said that
overall I was ok, but should still got to the hospital to make sure.
One of the other people that stopped offered to give me a ride. I
deciced that I would take them on their offer (I guess I just didn't
want to pay the ambulance bill).
The doctor checked me over took xrays,
and ct scans, and everything checked out ok. By the time they
discharged me, my wife was there and we stayed the night at a hotel
that night. The next morning we went to the place where the bike was
and retrieved the stuff in my saddle bags. I was ridding with two other
scrc members (bungee and zippy) and they stayed with me until I was
discharged and took care of alot of calls to insurance and such. I am
glad that they were there!
I was sore pretty
much everywhere.
But I had two main hurts. My lower left shin ankle area. And my right
side lower back area. It was my right side lower back area that makes
it hurt to walk.
A few scratches on my hands. Other than that, my body is good.
I just bought a
Road Star, so I'm getting back on the
saddle. It's just too fun to ride!
