Diving the Philadelphia (TN) Quarry is great, especially when compared to diving the local lakes. It is so much more relaxing when you are able to see everything around you, and don't have to worry so much about being seperated from your buddy. The quarry is huge, and I doubt you would be able to get all the way around it on 1 tank unless you use nitrox and stay shallow.
The entrance to the quarry site is through a pasture field, in some beautiful open country. Before entering the field, you must stop at a little barn to pay the entrance fee, and then pass through a series of gates, and up a pretty, good incline, through a wooded area. I wouldn't try it in a car, as the road is pretty rough. As you crest the hill, the woodlands open up, and immediatly visible is the huge, rock wall and the incredibly blue water at its foot. To enter the quarry you must drive down (backing, prefferably) another, fairly steep, gravel ramp to the water, where you can unload your gear on the tables set up next to it. There are restrooms and changing facilities at the top of the hill, although they have no electricity. This is also where you should park your vehicle, if there are a lot of people diving.
