    StarHub doesn't violate privacy

I REFER to Messrs Kelvin Tan Tuan Wei and Tang Beng Yong's letters, "Upset by ISP's 'right to scan' " (ST, Dec 21) and "Have laws to protect cyber privacy" (ST, Dec 22) respectively, that expressed their concern about a specific clause in the Terms and Conditions for StarHub Internet's Surf for Free.

StarHub Internet would like to assure all our users that at no point in time do we conduct any intrusive searches of our users' systems.

Our primary intent is to ensure the integrity and security of our own systems in order to provide users with a conducive and safe surfing environment.

We sincerely apologise if the wording may have caused some users concern.

StarHub Internet will be amending the phrasing of that particular statement to reflect our intent more accurately.

We hope that we have addressed both the writers' concerns.

StarHub Internet would like to thank them for their feedback and all the other customers who have signed up for our Surf for Free plan and are now happily surfing the Net.
