Upgrading won't sway these voters
IT IS not too difficult to understand the
reluctance of the Government to extend voting to Singaporeans living overseas, simply because
they are not as influenced by 'goodies' such as HDB upgrading.
I would argue that it is time for
Singapore to move on from being a society that focuses on material wealth, to one where every
Singaporean feels proud to be Singaporean.
The PAP led us, with great success, through the
Asian financial crisis.
The Government should be confident of winning votes through its
successful track record, rather than through material incentives such as upgrading.
