If there is another lesson on how competition can improves
firms' efficiency, the contrast between Singapore's and Hong Kong's
television industry would be it. There are two main players in Hong
Kong, TVB and ATV and many other smaller ones. The competition among
them has led to the booming HK movie and television industry which is well
known in China, Taiwan and Singapore. In contrast, TCS is a virtual
monopoly in the Singapore scene. If you are an inspiring actor or
actress, you must join TCS to show your talent. With no local
competition, the shows produced by TCS are hardly known beyond Singapore,
although it appears that Fann Wong has made quite a name for herself in
Taiwan.
This show follows the tradition of HK gong-fu movies, with very exciting fighting scenes, as well as a lead actor with many girls infatuated over him.
