MOVIE REVIEWS
THE GOOD AND BAD OF 2000.

5 stars = Buy it on DVD
4 stars = Buy it on VHS
3.5 stars = Rent and make a tape of
3 stars = Rent once
2 stars = Watch on TV when it comes out
1 star = Dont even rent
0 stars = Rent it and BURN it

The Beach- I hope the people who thought DiCaprio was a great actor finally see how pathetic he is. This movie gets my vote for worst movie of the year. Unless you are obsessed with Leo its not even worth renting.
RANKING=0 stars

American Pyscho- Christian Bale will never get be thought of seriously again. I guess the movie was all right if you like that whole twisted demented theme. If you like slicing and dicing you will love it. The only high point of this movie was the musical theme that played throughout. Definitely a rental at best.
RANKING = *

Legend of Beggar Vance- Great movie if you are 5 or 70 years old. For those in between you better not watch it unless you are keeping one of these groups company.
RANKING = *

Crouching Tiger- Hidden Dragon Well, I seriously will have to disagree with all the critics on this one. The people who made this movie saw how much people liked the Matrix and tried to play off of it. I am sorry but when they start flying through trees i couldn't help but laugh. The subtitles were annoying but really didnt harm the movie. The plot and the superhuman moves is what harmed it. Worth watching if you are drunk or want a laugh.
RANKING = *

Scream 3- You saw the first two expect the same in this. Cause thats what you are gonna get.
RANKING = **

Shaft- Well, maybe if I had ever seen the show I would have liked the movie. As it was i didn't- your typical action flick. The only good point was Samuel L. Jackson and his Shaft-like intimidation and some cool lines. Ice Cube or whatever rapper was in this movie did surprise me though with his talent.
RANKING = **

Dude Wheres My Car- Pretty funny, but it lost me at the end. Good job by the two dudes, definitely a renter not a buyer though.
RANKING = **

Whole Nine Yards- Suprisingly I did not like it as much as I thought I would. But it was sports and it was Al Pacino so it gets at least a 2.
RANKING = **

Where The Heart Is- Natalie Portman delivers well. Without her this movie is a total flop. I like the whole sleeping in Wal-Mart thing even if it has been in movies before. This movie had a nice pace though it didnt get too boring. O ya, go see it with a girl not your guy friends.
RANKING = ***

Scary Movie- A lot of people loved it, I liked it. It will make you laugh but some of the jokes arent that great. A good movie to see with a bunch of people.
RANKING = ***

Final Destination- An awesome plot for a teenage/college age movie. Definitely some surprises which is a plus. As good as it gets for teeny bopper movies.
RANKING = ***

Road Trip- American Pie with different actors. Definitely worth seeing if you liked American Pie. It will make you laugh I promise.
RANKING = ***

Gone In 60 Seconds- If you like sweet cars and N.Cage you will like this movie don't expect it to win any awards though.
RANKING = ***

X-Men- A spectacular comic book series into a movie adaptation. Good special effects but not great. The characters were superb and the chance that a credible sequel comes out of it are very good.
RANKING = ***1/2

Me Myself & Irene- The Farrely brothers do it again-right up there with Dumb & Dumber. Definitely beats out Road Trip for comedies this year.
RANKING = ***1/2

Men of Honor- A very good war movie that was a bit too predictable. The movie however was saved by great performances by Robert De Niro and Cuba Gooding Jr. Worth a rent maybe not a theatre visit.
RANKING = ***1/2

Erin Brokovich- Another reason why Julia Roberts is on my list of favorite actors. If you have seen The Rainmaker you know the storyline. Julia and Albert Finney are excellent. You would think the outfits Roberts wears would be enough but the movie has even more then that making it a definite winner.
RANKING = ****

Rules of Engagement- Maybe I just like war movies. The interaction of these two mega-movie stars was just too incredible for me to give it any lower of a ranking.
RANKING = ****

Mission Impossible 2- Amazingly enough a sequel that may have been better then the first. Definitely worth seeing.
RANKING = ****

U-571- A pretty good war movie. Worth seeing if you are into war movies or action flicks. Some great performances and good movie overall.
RANKING = ****

Gladiator- By far the best movie of the year so far(will be no doubt dethrowned by The Patriot)Fairly new actor propels himself in a role that couldnt be any better. Look for possible awards for this show.
RANKING = *****

The Patriot- Once again my predictions come true. So far and most likely to stay the best movie of the year. Patriotism and Mel Gibson- you can't ask for much more. My type of movie and not nearly as predictable as I thought it would be. AWESOME!!!
RANKING = *****
