| It was a cold night in New York City. The wind howled angrily and most people were attempting to find refuge from the biting wind. All except for one girl with long red hair and bright green eyes. She glanced down nervously at the white slip of paper she held in one of her gloved hands and then looked up at the nearby buildings. How am I ever going to find the Majestic Theatre? I dont even know what street Im on! She said bitterly. Suddenly she felt a hand on her shoulder and she spun around only to find herself face to face with a tall man, with curly auburn hair and sparkling blue eyes. His skin was fair and his big smile was full of amusement, which lit up his entire face. Excuse me, he said, his voice holding a slight English accent. I couldnt help but over hear what you were saying. Youre looking for the Majestic Theatre? The girl nodded, quickly attempting to place a name with the face that was so familiar to her. I can take you there, he said, holding out his hand to the girl. WellIuh Whats wrong? The man asked, looking at her keenly. Well I dont want to put you to any trouble Mr. Crawford, she said, and then instantly clapped her hands over her mouth. Oh my God! She thought to herself. That man looks so much like Michael Crawford that I actually called him Mr. Crawford! She looked up to see the mans reaction. Thankfully he wasnt angry. In fact, he burst out laughing. His laugh was extremely musical. The girl cocked her head to the right and stared at the man, wondering why he suddenly went into a laughing fit. When he was able to compose himself, he spoke. Im very sorry, he said, wiping the tears that were brought to his eyes from his laughter. Its just that I cant believe someone as young as you would recognize me. The girl was a little confused and raised one of her red eyebrows. Excuse me? The man smiled. My manners escaped me. Im Michael Crawford. Whom do I have the pleasure of meeting? The girls jaw suddenly dropped. She could not believe that the Michael Crawford was speaking to her. She was so excited and nervous that she could not speak her own name. Seeing her nervousness, Michael smiled coyly. Are you all right? The girl suddenly realized that she was staring and quickly averted her eyes. Yyes. IIm just a little star struck! After all, youre my hero. Michael smiled and put his arm around her shoulders. Pleased to meet you as well. But come, we must get to the Majestic before my rehearsal begins. I am once again taking the role of the Phantom. The girl grinned. Im going there to audition for Christine! Michael grinned and hailed a taxi cab. I guess well be seeing a lot of one another. After all, youve the look of Christine. The girl smiled. Thank you sir. Michael Crawford opened the door of the taxi cab and offered his hand to help her in. Once they were both comfortably inside the cab, Michael closed the door and gave the cabby the address of the Majestic. Well Lisa, the girl said. Well Lisa, I cant wait until we begin working together as Christine and Erik. Lisa looked both happy and shocked. What do you mean? You havent even heard me sing! Im sure you sound like an angel, Michael said softly. Lisa said nothing else and just savored the moment in the cab ride the man she loved from afar. And, do you have to ask? Of course she got the job as Christine! Michael once again lit up the stage at the Majestic Theatre once again, with a little help from his Christine. |
