| Love One's Neighbor The true meaning of love one's neighbor is not that it is a command from God which we are to fulfill, but that through it and in it we meet God. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~Martin Buber WHAT LOVE DOES Love flows through life like a river, constant, yet ever changing Love kisses kindness awake Love delights in spontaneity Love chases after laughter, yet doesn't hide from tears Love encourages potential to grow Love exposes the emptiness of our fears Love fans a spark of compassion into a flame of understanding Love graces us with glimpses of eternity Love greets life with open arms, unprotected, and without pretense Love heals without effort, because its nature is wholeness Love hardens resolve, softens resistance Love includes and inspires Love leads us down the path of our greatest growth Love melts complication into simplicity Love sees what fear closes it eyes to Love tears down the walls of self-protection, embracing joy and heartache equally Love transforms fear into faith Love manifests through us, rather than happens to us Love savors every moment Love sees beneath the masks we wear Love trusts life to know the way -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A short little story about the mind --------------------------------------------------------- The instrusive mosquitos served for another early lesson at the ashram. It was the gentle hour of dusk. My guru was matchlessly interpreting the ancient texts. At his feet , I was in perfect peace . A rude mosquito entered the idyl and competed for my attention. As it dug a poisonous 'hypodermic needle' into my thigh , I automatically raised an avenging hand. Reprieve from impending execution ! An opportune memory had come to me of Patanjali's aphorism on ahimsa (harmlessless). "Why didn't you finish the job ?" "Master ! Do you advocate taking life ? " "No , but in your mind you had already struck the deathblow." "I don't understand." "By ahimsa Patanjali meant removal of the desire to kill."
