Since the early 20th century, destroyers had played a large role in all surface fleets in terms of the hunting of enemy submarines. However, once space fleets began to be constructed, it soon became apparent vessels labed "Destroyers" were nothing more than variants of Crusiers and Frigates. Soon the term fell out of use.

However, around 2365 when the first decent cloaking devices started being produced, it became apparent a vessel was needed to hunt these modern day subs of space. It wasnt long till the use of the term "Destroyer" was revived. The Empire after a decade of prototypes decided on the final design for the "Delta Class Destroyer". Though production started very recently, they themselves are equiped with the latest in cloaking technology and boast the best scanners in the entire Kel-Morian fleet which can be linked to by other vessels to hit cloaked enemies.
