source for William B White for the father of
William born
1786.
1. William White came to MS ~1803 from
SC with his (?2)
brothers. Younger William would be age
17. Family legend
2. Lincoln Co. MS
,Its People 1897-1912 Volume II, interview
with Stephen Porter White, he said his ancestor came to MS and settle
in
Whitesands. It’s Stephen Porter White
death certif. that names his mother, Frances Ann Bishop. William
B White was in Whitesands.
3. History of Leake Co. , Wylie says he was born
in Union
Co. SC in 1798 and his father William B White moved to MS pre 1820,
moving with
most of his children to Marion and Law. Counties” William Jr is
listed in Marion Co. pre 1820
4.Work of E. F. White dated 1965, Nola White’s
family. “...
Grandfather William White”, “...3 brothers migrated overland together”
one to
AL, one to TX. “...they spent first
winter in Albany GA.
Their Great Granddad met a Georgian girl, fell in love, married and
in Spring she Accompanied him westward”,
“ our great granddad, William & His Bride”
From this we learn that is was the older William White that remarried,
leaving the younger to marry Frances Bishop in 1820
5. 1824 William B White, deed to his
son Wylie, for natural
love and affection and also for the better maintenance, support and
lively hood
of Sarah White, present and beloved wife of William White, *Senignor” .
This deed distenweses between two Williams
and older William’s present wife.
6. Zore Baptist Church at White Sandy Creek
organized 3 June
1819, renamed Bethany Baptist Church 18 September 1819 ( present day
Jefferson
Davis) On 20 July 1822 there were 16 people that
joined Bethany
Bapt. Church, these included Dempsey White, Sarah White,
Ralph Simmons, William Bishop and his wife Sarah
(Sally) joined as did (his son) James and
. Sarah and William Bishop were
granted letters of demission in January 1834).
Whites - Demspey, Wylie, Rueben
White ....Elvira & Ralph Simmons ... William Bishop and Sarah
Runnells
Bishop. This puts Frances Ann Bishop’s
parents (who married William White JR) in same location as William
White Sr.
pre 1820.). In 1830’s Rebecca White
(daughter of Frederick)
was also a member of this church.
I am interested in trying to prove
that William White Sr (born ~1753) that
died before 1825 in Lawrence County Ms
was the father of William White born 1786. I think y-dna
would prove that these two are in fact related, and could be father and
son.
At very least it would gives clues that would help locate
others
that are researching the same White families. Looking for
William
White in SC is like finding a needle in a hay stack, it is just a too
common
name.
My husband had no uncles from the “White” side of his family.
I found a volunteer
to submit sample of DNA for younger William White. Still looking
for
older William.. I am thinking that this could help
all
those other White family researchers. If
the cost
could for all the y-dna test could be spread out between many
descendants of
the White family, a better test could be obtained. Are you
interested in
helping with cost to find these answers.
If don't know about Y-DNA see http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=S83007&special=true
