Zore Baptist Church at White Sandy Creek organized 3 June 1819, renamed Bethany Baptist Church 18 September 1819. William Bishop and his wife Sarah (Sally) joined 20 July 1822 as did (his son) James. Sarah and William were granted letters of dismission in January 1834. There are several other records of participation in church matters, including one acknowledgement that he had drank too much and apparently asked forgiveness from the church (20 September 1823). William Bishop never appeared in a Copiah County Tax Roll though he owned land between 14 September 1836 and 1 January 1838 when that property was passed into the hands of (son) James R. Bishop.
