February 2004 Vacation
We arrived in New Orleans on Saturday and checked into our room at the Sheraton.  We had a nice  room with a great view of the Mississippi River and of the streets of New Orleans.
We went down to the pier at noon on Sunday only to find out that there were 2 boats that colided in the mouth of the Mississippi - which had closed the river to all traffic - So there would be a little delay getting on the ship. They had to bus and taxi over 3000 passengers down to Gulfport, Mississippi (1 1/2 hours away) to board the ship.  We sat in the pier for over 8 hours before our group got its turn to get a taxi. We stepped foot onto the ship at 5am Monday morning! Then we slept.... It was a very long day and night! We did get to meet so nice people while we waited though!
So Carnival tells everyone that because of the crash - it set the itinerary back a day and we would not be able to stop in Jamaica - we would be going  straight to the Grand Cayman Islands.  I was SO bummed! Jamaica was the place I wanted to goto the most.  So we set sail Monday night at about 7PM. We sailed all day Tuesday and all day Wednesday....  We had a great time, we spent alot of time alone - just relaxing, it was nice being able to cuddle without hearing the boys fight in the background.  We watched lots of movies, watched a few shows on board, ate some food, met a few people, and gambled a bit. Thursday morning we woke up early because we were scheduled to go on a shore excursion to swim with the stingrays in Grand Cayman. We were so excited!  Then.... Carnival announces that the Port Authorities were not letting any boats into the port due to large swells.  ARGH....... So we did't get to stop at the Cayman Islands either.  We did get to go to Cozumel the next day - and it was awesome. We took a ferry across the Yukatan. We went by jeep to some caverns and snorkeled in some underground caves then went to a beautiful beach.
So we thought it would be fun to sail out of New Orleans and spend a few days at Mardi Gras before we sailed....  WHAT A GREAT IDEA....                or was it???
For our vacation 2004 we decided to go on a cruise to the Carribean. Our cruise included: Jamaica, the Cayman and Cozumel..
We walked down to Bourbon Street to see some parades and get some beads.  Well we did not get see the parade... but we did see lots of breasts! Wow.... what a wild place! We had a really good time. We enjoyed people watching the most.
Ship life was good - we met some really fun couples..... These girls were personal trainers.....wow.....
These girls had a little too much fun.... the guy taking the picture is the girl in the hats husband....
Jason enjoyed himself....
Stay tuned for Vacation 2005.......
