Kansas City is a lot smaller than you think. We actually met online, but as we chatted for a few minutes, we realized we had a mutual friend in Scott Spillman. Scott and Kelly worked together at Gateway.com and share a love for fine wine and Kentucky bourbon, most notibly Maker's Mark. Nicki knew Scott and his younger brother Brian. We both contacted Scott right away and he gave both of us the thumbs up.
Our first date was the best either of us had been on. We met at O'Dowd's Little Dublin on the Plaza for a drink at around 5pm in the late fall of 2003. From there we did a little shopping around the Plaza. After a couple hours of shopping our thirst was overpowering and we stopped in at Tom Foolerie's where we shared a few drinkie-drinks and our first kiss.
The rest as they say is history. After several months of dating we decided to make our relationship a more permanent one and we moved in together. It took some coaxing to get the sassy downtown/plaza girl to move to Olathe with the dazzling, conservative suburbanite, but after some reconditioning she is adjusting well to the subdivision life:)

In addition to a robust work life we make time to do other things as well. We are members of Westside Family Church in Shawnee, its a great place to gain the spirituality that all of us have. When we are not spending time with friends and family, we are together:)
We were married on October 3rd, 2005 in Negril, Jamaica at the Couples Resort, Swept Away. It is an all-inclusive resort it was a blast. Kim and Eric Nelson came with us to enjoy 7 nights in paradise and we couldn't have been more thrilled to have them there with us.
As our lives and families merge permanently, it is important to mention the most important person we have in our lives. Nicki has a wonderful son named Mak. He is thirteen years old and is what we should all strive to be. Honest, mature, and quiet:)
At 7:49am on June 12th, Tate Michael Hodges was born. Weighing in at 7.67lbs and measuring 21-3/4 inches, he is quite a sight. A full head of dark brown hair accentuates his abrupt and sometimes volumous singing voice. His favorite song is "Wahhhhh"
