My grandpa was in France during World War II, and I lived there from February to June 2001. Here is a picture of him in front of the Eiffel Tower, probably taken in 1944, next to one of me in the exact same spot in February 2001. I never met my grandpa, so it's cool to think tht we were in the same place... one metro stop away from the normal Eiffel Tower stop (this stop has a much better view, and you can walk right down to the tower after you take pictures from a distance.)
It might be hard to tell it's the same spot because it's dark in my picture and snowy in his. But if someone taller had taken the one of Shelley and me, you'd be able to see over the wall behind us, and you'd see it was the same place. Now, there are fountains down there which are lit up at night.
