• List the three factors the influence a BSE on a worksheet with 90% accuracy.
• Identify which species of livestock have a single fraction ejaculate, or a fractionated ejaculate.

Soundness Examination is.

Define BSE: inspection of a bull involving evaluation

of physical conformation and soundness through

genital palpation, scrotal circumference, and testing

semen for motility and morphology.

Requirements: Female- must be cycling

Male- Be able to detect heat, Physically mount female,

Deposit fertile semen into female tract.

A useful predictor of selecting possible sires for

breeding is the Breeding Soundness Examination.

Factors that Influence a BSE:

• Age of Male
• Disease
• Heat Stress
• Body Condition
• Breeding Pressure
• Collection Pressure

Bulls should have a scrotal circumference of 34 cm at age

24 months and older.

Bulls, and Rams have a single fraction ejaculate.  Boar and

Stallion has a fractionated ejaculate.
