Back
Thegn

Im in the yard
The puppy has my ball
But I dont care
My attentions else where
On the man I call Daddy
And all his friends
Uncle Shadow and Steve-O
Aunt Katie and her new board
Skating the half-pipe
He stands so calm
Dads board under his arm
As he watches Steve-O
With their new trick
But his eyes stray to me
Playing under the maple tree
Im his son and hes sure proud
With pink hair youd know in any crowd
My hairs the same color as Mommys
But youd never know
Mines black, hers blonde
As she sits on the front porch
Typing away
But she, too, has time to play
She picks up the puppys leash
Calls my name
I run to her like I always do
She picks me up
Daddy does too
When we reach the top
I have to stop
Before I tumble in
Never to come out again
Uncle Shadow says the half-pipes dangerous
Thats why hes on crutches
Uncle Steve-O just got out of a cast
And Daddy has a black-and-blue ass
Mommy smiles and shakes her head
When youre older son
Its the same line every time
But I can wait
Ill be just as good as him
Do the same things he did
Mommy looks at Daddy
And Aunt Katie says goodbye
See you at the park
Tomorrow ten oclock sharp
The puppy jumps at the swing
Entertaining only me
As Mommy talks of planting
Another maple tree.
