Back The sun dawned on a new day. A thin mist hovered over the snow-capped peaks. All was quiet. Not a river gurgles, nor did the wind flirt with the whispering trees. Time seemed frozen, all seemed perfect, almost like a picture A deep pitched scream of rage and pain cut through the silence like a sharp knife through flesh. Soon a red rain fell upon the peaks of the Draacos Mountains as the sun flashed off black and gold scales. Many days started this way, with the Fighting of the Dragons. Monstrous reptiles whose only cares were protecting their lair and searching for food whether it be fellow dragon or not. When the gods created life upon Ein, they created many creatures. The sea faring Skall and Bokek, the nature loving elves, the ruthless orge and the neutral human. And of course, the dragon. Most feared on the lands, to cross a dragons path meant certain death. When first created there were only five clans and ten colors of dragons. Each clan had one chromatic and metallic color and was determined by their breath weapons. As mentioned before they lived off their instincts and were perfectly happy living in their daily routine. Lets face it; dragons were not always smart creatures. So how does one survive in a land were you will more than likely become lunch? Barely. At the Morning Roar, the race began. Will they attack today? Will the reds with their flame breath or the copper with their acid? Possibly the bronze would could breathe lightning when there was not storm. The sea peoples stayed beneath the choppy waves, the orges hid in their caves while a single blue made his home next door. Elves huddled against trees hoping the resident green wasnt hungry. The humans tried fighting back, but failed in a small skirmish called the Silver Streak Massacre. Life as all creatures knew it was slowly coming to an end. There was no exploration. Most races didnt even know others existed. They barely ventured out of their villages for fear of the dragons. Then one evening when all five dragon clans waged all out war on one another, the races of Ein prayed to their gods. The elves prayed to the god Narsis and the goddess Nak when a gold dragon fell from the sky, dead, into their temple. The humans, in their treetop houses, prayed as well when their skies lit with fire and ice covered their trees. The tavern tree crashing to the ground with a brass dragon. Orges crowded around their cave entrances grunting out a prayer to their god, as they watched a fight between ice-breathing whites, a flight of blues and two copper dragons who happened to be flying through. The night came to be known as The Last Kin Battles and at dawn, as the sun rose, it was quiet. That day started a new era. A time without dragons. A time of war and exploration. Two hundred years went by and people had forgotten about dragons. Then one day an army appeared from the mists surrounding Realms Keep, the mythical home of the forgotten dragons. An army of mages and warriors, male and female alike. An army of different companies, each marked by a different color. And leading these companies were twelve different commanders, male and female, each wearing the same color as the company they led. They made camp around the outskirts of the mists and made no move to advance or withdraw. And army of each race went to meet this new foe. The elves, humans, orges and dwarves put aside their differences to face this new threat. Generals from each army rode to meet this new enemy, a white flag of truce fluttering in the breeze. The commanding officers from the mysterious army answered, on foot, each carrying a banner of the troops they led. The day was cold and the discussion long. The armies on both sides grew restless. They wanted to seen an outcome to this as much as their commanders. After long hours it was discovered that this new army was no threat, but non other than the long forgotten dragons. Now known as the Ein Warriors, Narsis had answered the worlds prayers and swept the dragons to a different plain in order to teach the dragons. For two hundred years the god had worked to transform the Ein Dragons from ruthless killers to protectors of the world. He even asked the help of two Realm World Clans to teach the Ein Dragons the arts of magic and weaponry. The Realm God, Korin, also offered to become the overall watcher of the dragons, so the other gods could focus on their races. Now all twelve clans returned to Ein to do their gods biding. For them it was the least they could do for Ein after years of torture and abandonment to the other races. The dragons marched towards the Draacos Mountains where they made their home. Many wander the lands doing what they can for the other races, while some stay in the mountains concerning their lives with the affairs of the dragons. |
