Jamie�s eyes snapped open and he sat up. Instantly he felt he was going to be sick and lied back down. Too late, though, and he turned throwing up in the trash can next to the bed. A minute later when he felt better he sat up again. Slowly this time and he managed to keep his stomach from lurching about in his body.
Something wasn�t right. That he knew instantly. Getting up, his bare feet landed on the cold ground. Throwing the gown to the floor, he came across a pair of hospital pants and put them on before he left his room. Nurses watched open mouthed as he walked down the hall. One tried to stop him, saying something about him only being in extensive surgery two days before. Jamie stopped, looked at the new nurse, fire in his eyes, as an older nurse grabbed the new one saying, �This is normal. Let him be.�
Walking on, he came to a set of double doors and pushed them open so hard they slammed back against the wall, causing the whole hall to turn and look. �Where is he?� Jamie demanded of the nurses in the hall. �Where is that son of a bitch?�
�Who?� A student nurse said from halfway down the hall.
Jamie�s attention snapped to the young female. A male nurse standing a few feet a way spoke, drawing Jamie�s attention back. �Ikerus is in a meeting with Doctor Cody and a doctor from the Colonies.�
�Where?�
�In room 2-D on the third floor, but it�s a closed meeting.�
�Not for long,� Jamie turned on his heel and broke into a run, headed for the room he was just told held the location of Ikerus Martin.
He ran blindly, like a caged animal on the loose. He had one goal and nothing was going to stop him. Not that anyone did. Most people stayed out if his way, but the few who did try to stop him learned very quickly that they couldn�t. Without missing a beat, he took down two men and continued running, barely out of breath. He ran down long quiet halls and up flights of stairs, till he reached the hall with room 2-D.
Finding the door, he placed his hand on the knob. �Does he know?�
�What did you have me do to him? Return his memory of what?� Doctor Cody went unheard.
�He will as soon as he wakes up.�
�Which he won�t for another couple of days.�
�Wrong.� Jamie threw open the door, it slamming against the wall. All three people turned to face him. Ikerus was calm, as if he expected this; Doctor Cody looked shocked, but interested to learn more. The third person he had never seen before and had no interest in seeing.
�You�re up!� Doctor Cody said quickly. �But��
�Shut up,� Jamie looked at Ikerus. �How long?�
�It really has been four years.� Ikerus nodded calmly and started thumbing through a book.
This annoyed Jamie, but he didn�t move. Instead he just growled and asked another question. �Do they know?�
�No. Well, he does.�
Jamie looked to the other man in the room.
�Know what Jamie?� It was Doctor Cody.
�Who?� Jamie turned on her with a snap.
�That�s your name.� She said calmly. �I�m Lillian and you�re Jamie. Is this a side effect? I�ve never seen him forget his name before.�
�He doesn�t remember that name, Lillian.� Ikerus came to a page in his book, paused for a moment to read it and then set it down on the table.
�Who�s Jamie, Ikerus?� Jamie turned back to Ikerus with clenched fists. �What�s going on here?�
�Why doesn�t he remember his own name? What did you have me do to him?� Lillian looked at Ikerus.
�Nothing he hasn�t had done to him before.� The third person in the room spoke. It was a man, older than Ikerus, with an evil smile. �Right, Ikerus?�
�I don�t like you.� Jamie said, pointing right at this man. �Remember that.� Jamie turned back to Ikerus. �Well,� he hissed. �What�s going on?�
�Sit down, we have a lot of explaining to do.� Ikerus motioned for Jamie to sit in the chair next to him. The second doctor smiled.
�Do tell, Ikerus. I would love to hear all about what you�ve been doing here with Akira.�
