In his four years of being in Graceful Betrayal, Jamie had never been off the base. About a year ago he started having these surgeries that he couldn�t remember. And Ikerus wouldn�t tell him what they were about either. All he kept saying was, �Someday you will end this war Jamie.�
He was content with that answer for a while, but then these feelings of being only half a person started being a constant. Instead of these procedures stopping, they were accelerated and this was the last one. How was having surgery supposed to stop a war anyway?
Thinking about this only frustrated Jamie more and he walked down to the operating room to talk to Doctor Cody. �Perfect timing,� she said as he walked in the door. �I was about to get you for prep.�
�But...� Jamie started, but Doctor Cody interrupted.
�No buts. Get undressed and put this on.� She threw Jamie a hospital gown and left the room. Quietly, Jamie undressed and picked up the gown putting it on. �Okay,� Doctor Cody said as she came back into the room. �Follow me.�
�I came to talk to you about this surgery.� Jamie said as he followed her into another room where she motioned for him to get up on a bed. A nurse came in and asked him to lie down so he could start the IV.
�Nope,� she shook her head as the nurse injected the anesthesia into the IV. Jamie started to drift off as Doctor Cody took the bed and wheeled it down a hall with the nurse. �Don�t worry, Jamie,� she was saying. �I promise when you wake up, you will understand.�
